This was in yesterday's news thread, but I missed it. Today I noticed it was blowing up on Reddit.
This news comes days after the Boy Scouts announced, that after a two year review, they will continue to discriminate against gays (and atheists, I might add).

MLS has actively courted gay supporters and as the article says:
So I don't think it's a coincidence that the announcement came when it did.

It's worth acknowledging this here in its own thread because this should be of interest to us MLS supporters, because it says something about this league, and because we should recognize when the league does the right thing -- and here MLS absolutely did the right thing.

Great news for the league, and absolutely the right thing to do. The longer the BSA clings to its bigotry, the less relevant it becomes to thinking people, and mainstream America in general. MLS doesn't need to associate itself with, and be dragged down by, such a backward organization.

Now if the league can recognize the ethical dilemmas of doing business with MLM's...

He's business before bigotry, I presume. Gotta stay anonymous nowadays. Can you imagine if the mythical glitterati realized that Staples and LA Live are homophobe havens? What is keeping AEG from being the next target after Chik-Fil-A? Phil's mouth.

ThinkProgress made a chart of sports and entertainment organizations that fund right-wing groups and it was amusing seeing LA and Houston listed.

Yep. Herin lies the reason they're continuing to discriminate... the Roman Catholic and Mormon churches are the Boy Scouts two biggest benefactors.

This is really great news. It is always a good thing when a public entity stands up to organizations that support bigotry.

    Bravo, MLS!

Why don't you go to Chick Fil-A next week and see the "effect" that the founding family's statement has on business. It will only have a positive effect.

Yeah well its not like the MLS can afford to take non PC stances none of the major sports can or should for that matter. Its a good business decision even if it as a bad moral one.

For those going on and on about bigotry, whatever.
