After a long hiatus from this forum I hope to be back for the long term! So here's what we've got for week 1 in MLS. bet365 CD Chivas USA v DC United 2.75 3.00 2.37 Metro Stars v Real Salt Lake 1.80 3.20 4.00 Columbus v Los Angeles 1.66 3.25 4.50 Kansas City v Colorado 1.80 3.20 4.00 Dallas v Chicago 1.83 3.20 3.75 San Jose v New England 1.90 3.10 3.60 canbet Chivas USA v DC United 2.80 3.10 2.35 Metrostars v Real Salt Lake 1.83 3.20 4.05 Columbus Crew v Los Angeles Galaxy 1.70 3.40 4.50 Kansas City Wizards v Colorado Rapids 1.80 3.25 4.10 FC Dallas v Chicago Fire 1.91 3.20 3.75 San Jose Earthquakes v New England Revolution 1.90 3.15 3.85 For newcomers, prices are, in order, home win, draw, away win. All prices are return on a dollar bet, including your original dollar. Real Salt Lake, The Galaxy and FC Dallas look good to me here. Thoughts?
The Galaxy pays 4.50 if they win over the Crew and and New England gets 3.85 if they beat SJ. If not for the Ruiz trade picking the Galaxy seems like a no-brainer. With the way Ralston, Dempsey, and Noonan have been playing that seems like a good pick. DC also seems like easy money because it looks like, according to Various Styles, that Douglas Sequiera will be out for this game and they're playing a 4-3-3. Also Orlando Perez is playing so that counts -1 against their final score. edit: I think it may be time to start gambling
I'm taking the 3 matches mentoined above at canbet for 3 "units" a piece, along with 3 units on a combination of the 3 with price of 34.81. It probably won't come through, and the experts often frown on such combinations, but they are fun. And that's what really matters, right? Anyway, wish me luck.
By the way... If you go to http://www.bettingadvice.com then go to "betting tools," click "odds comparison" and choose "soccer" and "MLS" you'll get a general idea of the basic odds offered. Click on individual matches to see other assorted bets (total goals, HT/FT, handicaps, etc) available for the match, though very very few bookamkers offer anything besides basic FT result bets for MLS. And it appears that, as usual, no bookmakers are touching any long term bets, such as MLS Cup Champion. I believe the oddsmakers themselves know very little about MLS and figure than anyone making such a long term bet probably does know something about the league, so they steer clear. At least that's my guess.
Re: By the way... I'm surprised that Chivas is even money vs. DC. I heard that Chivas is pretty bad, and DC are MLS champs.
I signed up with them just because they consistantly had better prices than just about anyone. I haven't done any follow-up research on this in the last year or so, however. And happily, I can verify that they pay out in a timely, convenient manner! The downers are that they don't offer a huge selection of leagues or special bets, if either of those are important to you, and I find their website frustratingly awkward to navigate.
Yup, it's a whole different situation when you have currency on the line. The Revo gave it a good try in Spartan, it's going to be a good year for NE. I'm going to love hating both LA teams this year. Sampson and Lannycakes are punks, and the "Chivas" are going to learn that having an Hispanic surname is not a substitute for talent.
