Grabavoy very nearly cracks the Chi line at the top of the box -- nice tackle at the last moment.

28th minute and that may be only the second whistle for a basic foul midfield. Very clean match so far.

Not sure what to make of this crowd. Sounds good at times, doesn't look particularly good (the configuration seems weird), but without panning to the other sides I can't figure out how many people are there.

Edit: As I finished typing that got a pretty good look from the sideline for a throw. Looks better than I thought.

Great work from Glinton holds the ball in the box and kicks it out to O'brien who Blasts! one across the face of goal, missing the far side netting. What a cannon.

Then a backheel 1-2 with Frankowski and (?) resulting in a great save from Cannon.

Mapp with a great run past four quakes, goes down in the box and Stott ignores him.

[Eurosnob]Why is MLS so slow? MLS players don't have enough pace. (Insert European team here) would run circles around these guys.[/Eurosnob]

I'm at the game. Crowd is good but impossible to estimate. I'm in the shade thank god as its over 90 and blazing hot in the sun. Players were definately wearying at the end. Good game so far. By rights sjq should be up.

In defense of the attendance, the prices they were charging were pretty out there. Especially for a franchise who's fans were accustomed to getting tickets for $10 at Spartan without a problem. My understanding is that all the cheapest tickets ($20) were sold out in advance. The rest of the tickets are $40+

Anyway, as for the game, San Jose played ok but the question still remains who will score their goals? They're not a team built for chasing games when behind. They're built to win games 1-0 or tie 0-0 or 1-1.

The most surprising thing to me about the Earthquakes so far has been how soft the goals have been that they've conceded. All three goals were a result of just poor play from the pieces of the team that are suposed to be their strength. Cochrane gifting LA two goals and then today Corales being caught out of position and the center backs doing a poor job on Frankowski...Plus Cannon making a horrible decision on Donovan's goal. You expect the defense, Cannon and Corrales to be the better SJ players. In fact I think Cannon should have held the shot today that rebounded to Barret for the goal.

I expect SJ to lose this season, but not to be giving up goals like the ones they have so far.
