It was a sarcastic counter to my earlier sarcastic "Ching just a hair offside" post after Ching was like 10 yards upfield from the defenders.
I think what he means is that Cahill has more of a workman mentality and less of the egotistical star player mentality that players like Henry, Ronaldo, and Beckham tend to show.
Totally fair, the only reason I even bring it up is because although Henry comes across as a bit of an egomaniac at times, he's almost always spot on with his comments. He ripped our defense to shreds in the media this week, and lo and behold they pull their shit together tonight, although surely Dax McCarty's return to the lineup had something to do with it.. Just sayin that there are different ways to lead a team, and although he can be abrasive Henry is capable of inspiring the guys around him.
That's because Thierry Henry in his prime was better than Tim Cahill in his. Different expectations lead to different mentalities. Cahill isn't being brought here to be the face of the team.
There wasn't a good replay across the field. When I slowed it down it looked pretty close to call. Great timing and pass by Cahill and Henry.
Its true. I haven't and I don't know if I can. I am also inferring from watching Henry at Barca and Arsenal and Cahill at Millwall and Everton. The difference between where these guys used to play is a HUGE gulf obviously. Henry has great experience and played at a much higher level. Cahill played for different types of teams, but he always always worked his butt off had a real team mentality. He continued to show that in the post-game interview yesterday. I've never really felt that from Henry. Again, as I said it was hard to describe, but I tried.
Let's dial it back a bit. Perhaps the issues is you think I'm talking about one being a better leader. The word leader (although both are great leaders in slightly different ways) never entered the discussion from my end. I was thinking about passion and a different mentality about the team. Its not that Henry doesn't care. I like him and think he's a great player.
When Henry closes someone down by running 50 yards he wants the world to know about it when Cahill does it he does it because that is what he does - that's the difference.
Japan apparently. Hell, they got first class tickets to the Olympics while then men had to fly coach. But other than that, you'd be right.
Salt Lake just got away with an insane no-call for a PK. Nice Vancouver tribute to the Canadian women, Olympic bronze medalists.
You got that reversed. JFA paid for the men to fly first class, but the women were stuck in coach - despite being defending World Cup champions.
Don't let facts get in the way of my argument. Also, women should know their place and all that......
agreed. Henry leaves himself open to misinterpretation. I think he does care, but in a French kind of way
Jay DeMerit off early with what looks like a concussion, Andy O'Brien makes his MLS debut for Vancouver.
