Apparently there is a growing consensus in these forums that thinks the talent level in MLS is similar to the English championship and the second divisions of Spain, Italy and Germany. Agree or disagree? What measurement do you use to compare? Player performances like Eddie Lewis and Bobby Convey? Watching matches on TV?

MLS should try to be compared by the countries a little more close to home like MEXICO, ARGENTINA, and BRASIL!!!!!! The hell w. Europe...

We could compare both. Latin America is easier because we could actually use head to head competition (at least with Mexico) as a measurement. As for South America the only match I remember was DC United's Interamerican Cup win over Vasco Da Gama.

I think some MLS clubs could give Premiership/1st div. teams in Eur. and S. America areal run for their money. I want to see some exhibition matches SOON! Last year I was excited by all the MLS All-star vs. Real Madrid talk, Too bad it fell through. Next year they should try to set something up with Chelsea, Arsenal, or Barca.

Argentina and Brazil are farther away from the east coast than Europe.

The problem with a friendly is that little is at stake and the major difficulty an MLS clubs would have in a 2nd tier Euro league would be their lack of quality depth, which determines the team's fate over the long season.
