Chelito Delgado had sucked the couple of previous torneos with Cruz Azul anyway. Its not surprising he is struggling at Lyon.

Previous to that he was the best player in the league and a regular call up to the Argie National Team. Injuries played a part in his drop of play.

One more thing since they don't player in Europe they are sucky?

So the 6-7 Paraguayan NT players that play in Mexico are crap?
I guess first place in WC qualifiers isn't worth anything?

My point exactly. He was not good enough for Argentinian teams and needed to go to Mexico

Chelito was by far the best player in Mexico, but that he can´t hack it in France proves my point

Good Paraguayan players go to top teams in Europe not to Mexican teams

You said that Mexico attracts sucky South American players.

When Cruz Azul got him he was an Argentine NT player. He was a crucial part in Argentina winning the Olympics in 04. He was a starter for Argentina at Copa America in 04. Would have had the winning goal in the final had it not been for Adriano.

    The guy was doing great.

But then came the injuries and his drop of play because of it.

The guy scored a grand total of 5 goals in his two last torneos in Mexico. Cruz Azul had no use for him anymore and with his contract running out they decided to sell him. He was tarnished goods anyway.

Good Paraguayan players go to whoever pays them more.

Mexico attracts decent south americans because A. Sometimes Europe isnt calling, and B. they go for the money. Over in Mexico they play pretty good, the big teams at least.

Its false to say that only crappy south american players go there. Although i dont care much for their league, i perfer Argie' league but you cant deny that they have deep pockets which is good for the big teams that normally make it to the Copa Libertadores, they can buy strong players from big clubs in South America and hold their own in the Copa Libertadores as a result. Europe is checking out the FMF alot more now than before and is a good destination for South American Footballers if they missed their chance to go to europe from bad play or age or watever, and their second chance can come in Mexico if they rip it up, or playing for a big club for less money in south america and happen to kick ass in the copa libertadores.

Mexico pays great though for being in North America. THey i think are the highest paying league in the americas right?

Salvador Cabanas (Club America) >>>>> Haedo Valdez (Borussia Durtmond)

Paulo Da Silva (Toluca) >>>>> Delio Toledo (Kayserispor)

And Cabanas has been better lately then Oscar Cardozo who starts in Benfica

lol, out of all the players that play in Mexico you had to mention Cuevas. :p Dear god, I am so glad he left River. :D I won't forget when he scored those goals vs. Boca and Racing, but I honestly never thought he was a good player.

Having watched Loco Abreu over the years I'd take Cuevas anyday.

Cuevas performs better in World Cups than any Paraguayan player. Better than ex Bayern player Roque Santacruz.

Some guys just play better with different clubs.

Loco with America was crap. With River he has played alright.
Cuevas not so good with River. Played great with America and Pachuca.

    It happens.

    Higuian is garbage.

Graf plays for the team that is going to descend.

de Pinho was good at Atlas. And had a good run at Betis. Came back and is on the bench. He came back to Mexico damaged. Probably because of his stint in Arabia.

You can point to any league in the world and look at the crap they have imported and exported.

But it boggles the mind when you go on and rant about the suckiness of half the starting lineup for the leader of the World Cup qualifiers.

It makes you look like a fool

Someone should take a debate class.

Your initial point was that Mexico attracts sucky players?

When confronted with examples of non "sucky" players

You respond with names of players you considered not great and ask me to name a great player.

That my friends is a logical fallacy.

    Lets understand your logic here.

If the player isn't doing well in Europe than he is not great. Thus if he is playing in Mexico they must suck.

Its either black or white with you.

    NO gray in between.

There can't be a very good player, good player or an average player.

In your world either they are great or "sucky."

    Mind boggling reasoning here

Maybe you mean "against Central" because he played for Newell's.

Anyway how did this turn a how many players Mexico exports to Europe? If that was the case then we could invite teams from Ivory Coast, Ghana or Nigeria.

Players coming from South (or North) America joining Lyon usually spend the first 6 months on the bench, working with the physios with daily lessons to learn French and are only used as substitutes or for some cups games…

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas recently stated that he wanted to get Delgado this summer but due to a massive injury crisis and other clubs showing some interest OL has decided to buy the player during the winter, knowing he wouldn't play much till the 2008/2009 season.
