Sorry our affiliated USL team this year (St. Louis I believe), I'm sure it will be a different team next year. Edit: They were loaned to Indy 11. I have no idea who our USL (affiliated) team is.
Tchani and Ellis have had their contracts waived. No mention of a loan in the news stories. Tulsa is Chicago's affiliate, which may explain why they've only got 13 points from 21 games.
As far as I can tell, DC United doesn't have an actual general manager/technical director. Player acquisition seems to be a combined effort between Dave Kasper, Ben Olsen and Chad Ashton. The Rooney signing is rumored to be driven by Premier League fanboi owner Jason Levien. Dave Kasper, as far as I can tell, has a very limited understanding of the sport of soccer. What he brings to the table is an understanding of the league's machinations, and from time to time he has been able to pull off some good trades. Ben Olsen's soccer ideas are just as his winning percentage suggests. Does not come across as a very bright guy. As for Chad Ashton, I'm not even convinced that he has enough marbles to qualify for a GED. So, naturally, the result has been a team stumbling from season to season blindly. The team still lacks identity and a consistent playing style. Our team composition is pretty much reacting to one roster crisis after another. It's hard to see a 6 month plan let alone a long term plan.
Yes, Tchani and Ellis were waived, I was talking about Campos and Elliot and today we loaned out our July 12th signee to Tulsa. He hasn't played a single second. At this rate we won't have enough players to field a full team.
FC Dallas HSG isn't great at bringing in the crowds and they don't seem to be all that interested in changing that. Nor are they all that interested in spending megabucks on players that you've heard of. On the other hand, they put a lot of money into the academy and into the stadium. So, off the field, a C? On the field, if FCD averages 1.5 PPG over the final 12 games, they'll be the first team in league history to have three 60 point seasons in four years, despite spending roughly one-hundredth of what the The Usual Suspects spend on salaries. Fernando Clavijo and Óscar Pareja have had their fair share of misfires on the player acquisition front -- Cristian Colmán, anyone? -- but the results speak for themselves. Solid A.
This was the Twitter description for San Jose Earthquakes GM, Jesse Fioranelli, our Euro-snob. He changed it after I tweeted this screenshot.
