Whenever the season resumes, I hope they don't try to cram in an unreasonable amount of games into a short amount of time. As a ticket holder, I'd rather not have to deal with numerous mid-week games. A few are fine, but stacking games for the sake of making money sucks.
They have to be realistic about what the fans can handle. While people are going to be itching to do something - ANYTHING - once this is all over, discretionary income is going to be a lot harder to come by. I don't see how they will be able to make up all the league games, have a full playoff, be involved in Leagues Cup/Concacaf Champions League/Open Cup and serve their players well, while also having fans as able to attend a highly congested schedule and spend a pretty penny on tickets and concessions. Something has to give.
Seventy-one seconds. The pain fades, but never goes away.... Brian Ching, Taylor Twellman look back at MLS Cup 2006 and goals scored 71 seconds apart March 22, 2020 7:01PM EDT Ian Quillen
Yeah, that game was one of the "classics" they are showing for reruns. Even after all this time I still can't bear to watch it...
https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...ade-mls-cup-2006-classic-and-shaped-two-clubs Twellman said. “I’ve said it from day one, he was man enough to step up and take a penalty. You can read into that what you will.
Yes, I remember that quote. Say what you want about Jay Heaps, he was always a decent, stand-up guy. Even if Dempsey was injured, he still should have taken the PK.
Of course, I can watch the Sox/Yankee's series from 2004 over and over and over again -- but I've also gotten to the point where I could re-watch the Bucky F'in Dent game from 78 and the extra innings game from 2003, but I don't think I'll ever be able to watch that MLS Cup game or 2007's (and yet I keep seeing Ching's goal and that cross that glances off Avery John's head, whenever he, Ching or Houston are mentioned. Argh, cabin fever and visions of the shape of Avery's head. Crap those two games, the 2002 crossbar, and, of course, Mark Geiger's utter loss of testosterone in 2014. Wow, those 10-12 years might be worse than my first 43 years of Sox fandom (assuming I started at 5). The only thing that would be worse would be to be made to watch the Joe Public game again.
If we want to make ourselves feel a little bit of Revs-related happiness in these moribund times, let's leave the MLS Cup failures alone. They will be much easier to watch if/when we ever manage to get over the hump. For now, watch these: 2007 Open Cup final highlights 2008 Superliga final highlights
I remember being in the Fort watching the build up play on Ralston's goal and just getting amped because you could see it coming. Nyassi dancing down the sideline and cutting in, give and go with Dube, little feint before giving to Castro and then the cross to Ralston for the first time volley. It was a thing of beauty.
It was a small crowd, but that group was into it. Watching that game again though, Igwe (I believe that was 2), had himself a tough game.
LOL. I'm pretty sure I posted here, way back when, that if the shape of Avery John's head was different, the Revs name would be on MLS Cup.
Yeah, I think the reaction I have to Avery's name is probably the same as my Bills fan friend's to Scott Norwood.
Best Revs crowd I've ever been part of by a long way. There's something to be said for having just the die-hards there (not that non-die-hards aren't fans). Yes, #2 was Igwe (doing his Imad Baba, disconnected from the other 10 guys thing).
After Avery retired he came to work for the company I have been working for for the last 32 years. I never could approach him.
Seeing as I have a lot of time on my hands, here are a whole lot of moments from Revs history to savor. May we all find our way out of this mess sooner rather than later. Stay safe, and Go Revs! Wow, great stuff! I would rep it 100 times if I could! Whenever you're feeling depressed or down, just take a look at this clip and it will change your mood! The look on Tony "you can't spell 'Meola' without M-E-A-L" Meola's face is priceless... John DeBrito, Peter Woodring, Geoff Aunger.... them's were the days!
I've been watching these a few at a time, and this one was one for the ages! I forgot what a monster Reis was! He was simply amazing. And if any of you young-uns wonder why some of us old-timers can still absolutely hate a totally irrelevant team like the Chicago Fire, even though hardly any of us can even name one current player, this is exhibit A. All of the cheap-shot all stars are there, from Ante Razov, Jim Curtin, Andy Herron, Caballero, and led by their peerless leader, Dave Sara-can't!
No other Fire player approaches Ante hair-pulling Rat-zov for sheer bastardness. He was in a league all his own.
True. Which is why Leo Cullen's throw-in off his back while he was bitching to the ref is one of my favorite Revs memories of all time.
