Absolutely. Especially Quaranta since he's shown well to some extent in MLS. We may have to wait for Ed Johnson to produce in MLS since that seems to be a prerequisite for a call up by Arena.
Tino scored today and Ed Johnson (and I don't know why this happened) played as a left midfielder. Actually the players that impressed me the most from the Burn game were Antonio Martinez and Joselito Vaca (bot not Ruiz, am I the only who is inexplicably annoyed by this dude everytime you see him play) Whats the story on Martinez? Today he looked like a world beater and just as impressive as DaMarcus Beasley on a good day. Thats probably heresy around here but its the truth. I don't think it would be much of reach if you said that Vaca was an American he would be entrenched as out Right Midfielder. From what I saw, he is every bit as talented as Bobby Convey and Landon donovan (minues the speed)
EJ came in for Rhine so at least in theory he was a forward. He spent alot of time coming back into the midfield, which cut down out our ability to get at the goal quickly, but by then Matinez was pretty dead so maybe that was necessary. Vaca's future may be on the right side. He's spent the majority of time with Dallas in the center, but evidently freelances too much. Putting him wide makes this less of a problem and gives him the room to exploite his playmaking skillz. I guess the main question is what to do with him when Oscar Pareja comes back. If Jeffries gets daring he could pair ROB and Pareja in the middle and let Joselito have the right side. I've always thought that Chivas plays a very different game than DeMarcus. He's a much better passer, buts lacks the athleticism to track back and make good runs the entire game. The Gals are a good matchup for him as they don't have winger capable of getting by him. It'll be interesting to see how he does against Ben Olsen.
I don't know why they aren't already giving Quaranta time on the NT. It seems that every game I watch that Santino is in, he does something that makes me go "wow!" both DC and the under-whatever-age teams he's on. Of all the guys I've seen, Quaranta looks to me like the best bet we've ever had for a real superstar scoring machine.
Quaranta had some down time this winter as he awaited the birth of his child. He'll be playing for the U20s in November, I presume.
um....just out of curiosity how did you find out about this? 17 year olds turning into fathers aren't exactly publicized too much
