http://www.mlsnet.com/content/03/mls0404radioshack.html Great News. Will be the Burn's jersey sponsor.
This continues to add to the great offseason for MLS. Wonderful news indeed! This is huge because MLS was down to just 5 official sponsors (I don't count the US Soccer Foundation). Andy
The year end team is now the RadioShack Best XI as well. I love how they classify things...RadioShack being the official "Consumer Electronics Store" of MLS. Could Best Buy come in and take, say, televisions while RadioShack takes home audio? Here are all the sponsors/partners currently: http://www.mlsnet.com/partners.html I still don't understand why MLS runs the fantasy game through the Sporting News, instead of our "Official Sponsor" Yahoo! Sports. Time to put FSW on the National Broadcast Partner section as well!
Sorry, I did not realize that PEPSI owned Acqufina. That makes the Radio Shack deal even more important IMO now. Andy
Exactly. I played the game in the 2001 season on Yahoo, and then it just wasn't there last season or this one. Just seems odd.
Looking at the list of partners makes me wonder who has chosen over the years to not reup with MLS. Off the top of my head I can remember Mastercard AT&T BIC Kellogs I know Milk was on board at one time but I can't remember if it was as an Official Sponsor Andy
Milk was a sponsor (maybe still is) but they weren't a jersey sponsor - except for an all-star game, I think. I'm glad to see MLS getting more official sponsors for the league, but when will all 10 teams have jersey sponsors??? Right now we have... New England - Pepsi Colorado - Pepsi Los Angeles - Budweiser Kansas City - US Soccer Foundation Dallas - Radio Shack San Jose - Yahoo Chicago - Honda DC United, Columbus, and the MetroStars still have blank jerseys.
Met Life sponsored the Metros a few years back. I didn't see Panasonic listed on the mlsnet site as a Corporate partner...
yeah, the MetroStars actually had New York Life as their jersey sponsor. they had Fuji Film before that. don't forget that Columbus had Snickers for many years. and DC United was MasterCard.
i think i've seen some pics of the pepsi logo on the new crew jersey, maybe a kyle martino picture? i'll try to find it
oh here's a frankie hejduk picture with the new uni and it looks like pepsi on the side, but there's probably nothing on the back
I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but I've been really impressed with the chunk of change Pepsi has put into advertising with MLS. They have come through big time, sponsoring the All-Star game, 3 teams, and many, many other things. Pepsi has really shown a commitment to MLS, which we should take time to recognize. Wonder if Honda would switch shirt sponsors with some other Pepsi team and have MD Code Red be the shirt sponsor of the Fire. That would be cool.
Sounds legit. Previously we had All-sport (a Pepsi product) on jersies (not in a long time, they were on Chicago's jersies before Honda), but now Pepsi has bought out Quaker-Oats (prior owner of Gatorade).
Snickers is another former sponsor. Used to be on the Crew shirts. FWIW, there were no sponsor patches on the Quakes' shirts during their Champions Cup matches. I assume either Yahoo switched to another team or they are waiting for the MLS season.
