So last week I did the usual dance trying to get the advertised "free preview" of MLS shootout on direct tv. Soccer America had mentioned this as well several weeks ago. So after many calls they finally informed me that the "free preview" wasn't the first full week --it would be next week. So I waited until this weekend, and tried again. Guess what. They tell me there is NO free preview. Ugh. Luckily the guy told me that his computer showed my inquiry from last week and that they had told me it would be free this week. So he gave me the whole season for half price!!! SWEET! So I have MLS Shootout for about 25 bucks. Nice. Very happy. The support guy, Mike, rules! Go Crew!
thats weak, who cares about the free preview, i bought the package before the season starts, you got lucky to get it for half price, but you went about it the b*tch way of doing things...weak in my book... Just buy the package before the season, don't cry about free previews...
i have not purchased mine yet, i decided to wait until after the free preview was over, i guess that makes me a little biatch in your book? hot damn.
I had the opposite problem. I ordered the package, got the first free preview weekend, got 0 this weekend, zip, nada. Called Comcast to complain. They pushed buttons, reset my box, etc, nothing. "Oh, it must be on your end, we'll send a technician out to take a loog, how does Thursday sound?" Yeah right, whatever. This is my 4th year with the Shootout and I've had this problem consistantly every year, and the solution has ALWAYS been something that Comcast (then AT&T) did wrong, but all of a sudden they need to send a technician out? Yeah, I'm seeing that "Lance Armstrong" striving to be the best. So the technician is going to come out, find nothing, then Comcast will "elevate" the problem. Menawhile I've already emailed InDemand and MLS telling the both that if it doesn't work next week, I'm out. I don't have the energy to fight my local cable company for a 4th year. I'll just get a refund and watch ESPN/FSW. MLS, this means money out of your coffers.
i dont even know what to say to this - can i offer you some schadenfreude? btw, my free preview worked and is working at this moment, so....
Ditto! <and to use the annoying quotes someone here usually does> if people are so cheap that they want the free preview for an ultra-discounted package, at least have the common sense not to post it here <is that too much to ask?>
i cannot be the first time. i mean i thought invading iraq and removing saddam's regime was needed, we must have agreed on that one, right?
Shoot Out Didn't Work I too paid for the shoot-out and didn't get a single game though it today. I got to see what little ESPN deceided to show us and the Fox Sports game. But I have Time Warner Digital Cable and they ran though all the checks and said the problem was in alot of areas and was bad at the source. I hope MLS gets this fixed before next week!!
Re: Shoot Out Didn't Work Interesting. That would seem to make what Comcast was saying a little more logical. This is the first time that they haven't been able to solve the problem so I could see games on that day in 4 years. Maybe the problem wasn't at Comcast, but it was on their end (MLS/InDemand/Comcast) and not on my side of things, that I'm sure of.
I feel bad then, kinda. I paid for the Shootout on the Friday before the first game, it took me six minutes to sign up, and everything came through fine the next night, and I was at a friend's house last night, where they have DirecTV but wouldn't have bought the shootout, and I watched all the games just fine. If it doesn't work next Saturday, we've got problems, though. I'm planning to sit on the couch all day and all night watching the NFL draft, the Cubs, and soccer into the wee hours.
Wow. You must be a SUPERFAN. You are THE MAN! Thanks for showing me the way. I was so lost, thinking I'd see how the system works (or doeesn't work) before spending my hard earned cash. Glad you have all the answers. Next time you see a post about "free preview" why don't you skip it? After all, you think they are "weak" so why bother to check em out? Unless you're a troll or, more likely, a little man with a big chip on your shoulder.
Re: Shoot Out Didn't Work I just got an email from InDemand. There was no trouble at their end (the source) with the Shootout. So it looks like the trouble for you is with Time Warner, and for me is with Comcast. Their technician is supposed to be here in the next 3 hours, we'll see if he comes up with anything (I doubt it).
The tech was here. It was a problem with my box, but it's a problem that should have been fixed remotely, according to the tech. Somehow my box setting got switched from "RF" to "InTelco" or "Telco." He called the office, told them to reset the box and change that setting, and left. He didn't do anything on site that I couldn't have done. Apparently this was his 5th call today where he was taking care of stuff the office should have been able to do remotely, including his second call because pf PPV problems due to this setting. Got to love Comcast...
I'm wishing you the best JasonMa. You're one of the gooduns; if you want the Shootout and are willing to pay for it, YOU DESERVE TO GET IT!!!
