Just looked at the MLS scoring table...! Bruce must be very pleased. Everyone is eligible to pull on the US jersey. I wonder if this is the only time that all ten members of the scoring table have been yanks. When the league started it was hard to find americans that found the net. MLS is helping to mold creative american players.

Bruce is not pleased really. The coach has said the league needs to hire a few more foreigners to help our soccer develop. I agree. In no really strong league in the world do you have the top 10 all from that country. I don't think we need to go to the opposite extreme, where most of the top strikers are foreign (see Mexico, Spain, England, etc.). People in these countries will tell you that their national teams have suffered as a result of this. But it would be nice to have a few good playmaker/scorers. As Bruce said, MLS must find some replacements for the generation of Valderrama, Etch, Cien, Nowak, et al--all of whom are fading if not gone already. These guys did a lot for the league's level of play and helped improve the Americans around them.

This topic has been beat to death over the last couple weeks in both the MLS and US forums.

I agree to a point. Truly creative middies are hard to find esp. here. maybe martino will be the first? I still think it is telling that more americans are the offensive leaders for their teams. This can only help player development.

If only Jay Jay Okocha would come to the MLS.

I heard Pele was coming out of retirement. Hudson is trying to get a contract.

Scott: "So Ray, i heard you were going after Pele"
Ray Hudson: "Yes, He is as nice as a poodle in a cruise ship. I am offering him all of our money and my wrist watch to come play for us. I think he is just the veteran we need. You know, he scored over a thousand goals in his career. I expect nothing less, than double digits this year"
