MLS schedule is out.. http://www.mlsnet.com/schedules/ Of note, United has a brutal start to their schedule..
Also of note, only two Wednesday matches all season long and we play both of them at home.. 5/19 - Los Angeles at DC 8/11 - Colorado at DC Every other United match is on a Saturday..
as there are about 10 MLS Schedule is out threads now, can we get a mod to put DC in the title of this thread to distinguish this a little? anyway, i see that we only have 1 "off" week, on July 24. However, I am glad that our 2 Wednesday games are at home. i will definitely squeeze those into my plans!
I don't know if this is in the right place. But does anyone here have Cox Digital Cable? I've heard that they aren't offering the Shootout package anymore because indemand isn't going to be providing the feed.
WHAT!? One of the reasons I switched over last summer, instead of going dish, was that they didn't offer it on analog and did on digi. Before I start sending out corrosive emails, do we have a confirmed source?
I'm not sure either. I just checked the website, and the MLS Shootout Package is still listed. However, you and I both know that means absolutely nothing. They may have just not gotten around to taking the MLS shootout icon down yet.
Re: MLS schedule is out.. Ahh.... I don't go along with the idea that the start is brutal. I look at this schedule and think: - as bofahey says, I'd rather get SJ early particularly if LD is absent. - the 1st Chicago game is home and we actually did well vs them last regular season. -I also like the idea that we don't have a bye week early- that we play on 4/10. We'll get up to speed faster IMO. - I don't see the metros game as particularly onerous, especially since they will be coming off the bye week. - Then I remember that at this time last year that folks were expecting both Dallas and C-bus to be competitive teams. (Yes, I know that we don't have Dallas early but, ) those pre-season projections show that we don't know who is gonna implode for the season and we also don't know when teams will go through rough patches (see Colorado or KC last year). Bottom line is that we won't know if the start of the season is especially tough until we can look back at it. I guess I see the galss as half full.
My best friend is getting married on July 3rd and I'm the best man. MetroStars at home, damn, damn, damn.
I think Chris meant to say that some other teams have a brutal start to their schedule having to play DC United early in the year.
Awesome idea, and he lives in Germantown, but getting married out here in western MD. So, looks like I'm missing at least one game this season.
Schedule breakdown: 4 matches apiece against division opponents - Chicago, NE, Mutts, Columbus The rest fleshes out like this: Los Angeles - 2 home/1 away San Jose - 1 home/2 away Colorado - 2 home/ 1 away Dallas - 1 home/ 2 away Kansas - 1 home/1 away Not too bad.. We've got the Galaxatives twice at home and Colorado twice as well.. Not liking those away matches to SJ and Kansas as we never play well in those places..
MLS sticking to its two games on July 4th is a great idea considering both those teams sold out last year and will most likely do the same this year. I'm glad also that all of the people in MLS were smart enough not to stretch the games to other cities and stadia thinking the same would happen... can you imagine DCU trying to host a game against the millions of ppl trying to get to the National Mall?
Only one at LA should be good because they have a solid record at home. 2 away against San Jose isn't bad because noone goes to the games and the DC supporters that do are louder than the Quakes fans combined. Only 1 away to the Rapids is solid because it's not easy playing at altitude, especially if for whatever reason teh team is low on depth. The others are pretty good, too. 1 away at Kansas City is great because that means that the players are only exposed to wizardscharter in person once, thereby greatly decreasing the probability that his suckiness rubs off on them.
Indeed, I know that a single DC United supporter shouting can be louder than all the Quakes fans combined. This is a demonstrated fact. I've witnessed it myself.
I was just thinking this schedule against the West sucks, and where did it come from anyway? 2 Away to SJ rots as DC doesn't play well there in general, and SJ games in RFK are always pretty exciting if nothing else. 2 Away to Dallas, esp. in June and July really rots as we totally suck down there, and we almost always beat them here. 2 Home against LA almost always turns into home games for them it seems, and they have the best record of any West team in RFK. Meanwhile, we historically have done better in LA, if not recently. Only the 2 Home to Colorado is a matchup that I think goes in our favor statistically and aesthetically. And why do we play the two highest seeds in the West Away, and we get the two lower seeds home? That doesn't sound too kosher to me. Not that any of this really matters. Ursula is right, who knows how this all plays out.
What works out for me is that my brother wedding, where I am best man is on May 22nd when they are on the road in Colorado.
So lucky. July 3rd was the first thing I checked when the schedule came out. Good for you though. Wanna switch weddings?
No thanks, I hate weddings to begin with, so my brother being the groom is the only thing that allows it to trump my soccer is 1A rule.
