Dempsey was by far the better all-around player. He contributed greatly on both ends of the field and was the only bright spot of the team throughout long stretches.
Dempsey has a bright future for the Revs and for the USA.He can play every position on the field except keeper and central defense. Fast, strong, and technical. It will be interesting to see where Bruce tries him. I would guess central holding midfield, with the occasional green light to attack.
I think what you have to look at is that Dempsey played on a bad team, the Revs were obviously crap this year (until the end of the season, as usual). Marshall played in a defense that has his teammate nominated for Defender of the Year. Frasier took care of the big problems and left Marshall with the scraps. Who had a bigger impact on their team, Dempsey by far. But as a fellow Revs poster had said, a tie would be fair. I'm interested in hearing the arguments who voted for Adu.
Doesn't mean he's this year's top rookie... As far as national team potential, I love Chad Marshall's potential. I could see him starting in South Africa.
dempsey unless Sierra Mist is sponsoring the Rookie of the Year award.........then you know Adon't will get it
Is it just me or does it seem like a lot of these young Americans stars coming up these days can play in multiple positions? Dempsey can play anywhere, Donovon has played several positions, and it seems like it is a growing trend. I dont know, just an observation.
Dempsey and Marshall will be exciting to see together on the usmnt. Dempsey gets my vote for these reasons. 1. 8 th pick ...not 1 or 2 2. great goals 3. great defense 4. great versatility most importantly!!! 5. this kid scored an amazing goal WITH HIS F--KING JAW BROKEN against Chad's crew. then played another game after that in the open cup where apparently he was the best on the field & 6. recovered from 6 weeks of lay off only to return to Nicol's starting line up to eventually score a crucial goal against Chicago to help qualify for a most unexpected postseason run. 6.5. He made a great run with the ball down the right side with two players on him to create the winning goal of the Columbus vs. NE series If you don't vote for Clint then you have not watched him much this season
You say right, Was, after the accident, wasen't no more, that he will and have a future, no body say not.
[Jules]"ENGLISH, MUTHA ************A!!! DO YOU SPEAK IT????" [/Jules] And yeah, his skills dropped off for a little while while his jaw was healing (and while he was wearing that mouthpiece), but he's gotten back into the form he had early in the season, so I think it's quite plausible to say that Demps is presently earning his RotY nomination.
