that would make way too much sense!

hopefully louisville will try to run out the clock for a bit.

Just because the kickoff is at 10:53 EDT doesn't mean that ESPN2 is actually gonna cut away from this idiocy. They've got 2 minutes and I bet that they are going to stay with this until the bitter end

Man, I'm glad to see "the Vull" run but a 28-yarder doesn't milk much clock in college ball.

But then what do you do for the program that gets bumped? They have to be put back in the schedule, likely at a similar time slot. And what about the advertisers for that program? What about thair makegoods?

It's not as simple as you try and make it sound.

Me, if this were a Washington game I know I'd be telling all of you to STFU, so I'm not blaming ESPN for this one. This is just bad luck.

C'mon, you're a smart guy. Do you think the NCAA and ESPN care about that? You know they don't.

I think a NCAA Tourney (basketball) game this past season started at like 10:00 PM local time.

    They're trying at least. . .

Let them get first downs, I'll take that stoppage over MTSU using every single nanosecond.

I missed the 1st quarter of the USC game last Saturday because of the Cincinati Reds POSTGAME show.

Stats I could find online indicated TV games were under the 3:30 window as well, although those were three four years old.

And so many games are TV games now, it's pretty much a wash.

    You're already bumping a program.

Put a buffer in an at least you're not bumping a live event.

Actually I think it's ESPN's policy now to never stop broadcast of an ongoing game (of any sport) to go to another. Hence the women's basketball, etc. Soccer doesn't tend to overlap other things because it doesn't go into overtime for ties and it has a literal clock (more or less).

Can't believe they didn't show the free kick. Why go to the split screen to show them setting up a free kick right outside the box, and not leave it on for 10 more seconds?

MLSNet has stopped time. It's already kicked off but they haven't started the MatchTracker yet.

    You'd prefer a punt? A turnover?

Though that penalty was uncalled for ...

exactly, you really cannot blame espn for this. it's just bad luck and unusually high scoring game with plenty of stoppages in play. the in-studio folks have been giving constant reminders regarding the upcoming mls match.

It's pretty much wall to wall and they stay with the live game, except in the markets for the next game. They build a 15-minute buffe rin, but all it takes is one game to taotally screw that up, especially on the Fox regional feeds.
