NCR...hehe So, as I understand it, the playoffs are basically a single table this year with the top two in each conference getting the top four seeds. The question I have is how is the number one seed determined? Conference winner with the highest point total?
Yes. Top team after the regular season gets the Supporter's Shield (as it always has been), and the #1 playoff seed. The other conference winner gets the #2 playoff seed. The next best teams get seeds 3-8. It's essentially a return to format from when the league had 3 conferences (and maybe one year when the league had 2 conferences.)
For those who weren't sick already, here are the current standings. # Team GP PTS 1. NYRB 11 20 2. Dallas 12 19 3. K.C. 9 19 4. Dynamo 11 16 5. Revs 11 18 6. Rapids 11 15 7. Chivas 9 14 8. D.C. 9 14 9. Chicago 11 14 10. Toronto 10 10 11. Crew 10 8 12. Galaxy 8 6 13. RSL 9 6 Starting to be a bit of a gap between the top 9 and the rest. Plus Toronto is improving and you know Beckham and Donovan together will help LA. P.S. I'm not sure, but I THINK the top 2 in each league are guaranteed the top 4 seeds. Kick me if I'm wrong.
