RSL hosts SKC, that other team (among many) that RSL loathes/hates/despises, etc. Sure we all hate our rival from across the mountains, Colorado, but the hatred for SKC is something else. Anyway, throw out what happened during the season, I expect this to be a tough game with SKC playing dirty and diving in the box to draw penalties (how they naturally play). However, RSL will triumph with a 3-1 win.
SKC is my favorite team to hear of losing; actually, tied with BYU. When BYU and SKC lose in a weekend, whatever else happens at least I have that. Will hope for the best, plan for the worst.
I’m heading out of town so I’m bummed that I won’t be attending Sunday’s game. I do like our odd vs SKC better than LAFC
We always seem to get the worst of officiating against them. I expect the same today. They know the officials can’t red card all of them so they take thuggery to a different level.
I took a jaunt over to the SKC Board. Apparently RSL is the one team they didn’t want to face. They aren’t thrilled with the choice of referee. Since it’s Toledo, neither am I.
I'm interested to see what the attendance might be like tonight at the RioT, it will be cold, could be rainy, late start time and the kids have school tomorrow. Not a lot of time to sell tickets either, but RSL fans are always sporting so hopefully the turnout is good. I'm not a Wiz when it comes to predictions but momentum is on RSL's side, I think Petke and the boys will perform like wizards and will beat Kansas City 2 - 1.
Toledo? Wasn't he the fourth official for our last game? Anyway, I will always remember that he was the official for RSL's first win last year, the Snow Game against Vancouver. He wanted to get off the pitch so fast that he didn't even add any time to clock at the end of the game. Maybe we can get another Snow Game today.
Not always. In a big game in 2013 - the July one where SKC got two goals late in stoppage to win and we thus had to go to them for MLS Cup - Chris Wingert absolutely destroyed Kei Kamara within ten seconds of the game starting. Lined him up and went in very high, elbow to head, with the ball nowhere near. It was as clear a red card as I can recall, but he somehow got yellow. He was red carded later (second yellow actually, for a tactical foul) but we definitely benefited from that early call, which got us an hour more than we should have had with 11 men.
I remember that one well. Wingert was the one guy who almost never did that kind of thing. Kreis definitely had him target Kamara. Wingert should have paid a hefty fine. Kreis too. It was ugly.
Yes, that game was fun. Weird play by Wingert 30 seconds in - very uncharacteristic. The backdrop to this was Kreis and Garth jawing about thuggish play by SKC in the week leading up to this game. Olmes almost put RSL ahead late, and then the game winner was scored by Opara 6 1/2 mins into 5 mins of stoppage.
I spent the afternoon with our good luck charm, and having dinner with him at the moment, so we'll probably win. You're welcome.
So back from Southern California in time to watch this one from the comfort of home. Wish I could have made it up but to far to drive in one day. I hope we come out confident, kinda worried about a let down after the high Thursday.
At least he isn’t riding one from the last game. He hates SKC though and is bound to get one in this one or the next one or both.
It'd be great if Rusnak actually showed up and did something this game, he's been a total ghost for a while now. Also, Plata needs to put it more effort tonight or we'll get burned, his first touch was real bad against LAFC and he'd often just let the play go after his half assed first attempt at the ball.
Agree on Plata, but Rusnak had a pretty decent match in LA in my opinion. I am kinda bummed Mullholand was left out since he was a big part of both matches we won in the past few weeks.
The announcers sure have spoken poorly of RSL all day. It doesn’t matter how well we played through the season, the only thing people remember is the two losses to Portland (NYCFC had more losses than RSL over the last 10 games, but no one brought that up). Let’s hope RSL shows up ready to play.
