Thanks to Alan Kelly for getting sick Tuesday night and forcing me to redo Ismail Elfath's stats. If you're wondering, Kelly gets credit for the game, but Elfath gets credit for the cards he showed, which happened to be the only two of the match. It's messy in the short term but eventually gets absorbed into the noise. Here are the referees' stats for the second legs of the conference semifinals. 2017 Regular Season Stats: 374 games, 3.53 Y/g, 92 R (0.25/g) All-Time: 5077 games, 3.42 Y/g, 1302 R (0.26/g) 2017 Playoff Stats: 8 (of 17) games, 2.88 Y/g, 1 R (0.13/g) All-Time: 300 games, 3.82 Y/g, 68 R (0.23/g) Thursday, November 2 WESTERN CONFERENCE SEMIFINAL, LEG 2 (2)Seattle Sounders FC vs (3)Vancouver Whitecaps FC R: Baldomero TOLEDO - 244 reg. season games, 3.48 Y/g, 93 R (0.38/g) 2017 reg.: 21 g, 3.95 Y/g, 14 R (0.67/g) All-time playoffs: 21 g, 3.29 Y/g, 3 R (0.14/g) 2017 playoffs: 1st game SEA: 32 g, 1.47 Y/g, 2 R (0.06/g) OPP: 1.84 Y/g, 2 R (0.06/g) REC: 14 W - 3 D - 15 L (1.406 PPG) VAN: 18 g, 1.67 Y/g, 5 R (0.28/g) OPP: 1.50 Y/g, 3 R (0.17/g) REC: 7 W - 3 D - 8 L (1.333 PPG) Previous matching or reverse fixtures: 7/5/2014 VAN 1 - 0 SEA 9/19/2015 VAN 0 - 3 SEA Sunday, November 5 EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMIFINAL, LEG 2 (1)Toronto FC vs (6)Red Bull New York R: Chris PENSO - 123 reg. season games, 3.71 Y/g, 36 R (0.29/g) 2017 reg.: 25 g, 4.24 Y/g, 5 R (0.20/g) All-time playoffs: 3 g, 3.00 Y/g, 0 R 2017 playoffs: 1st game TOR: 11 g, 1.91 Y/g, 2 R (0.18/g) OPP: 2.18 Y/g, 1 R (0.09/g) REC: 3 W - 1 D - 7 L (0.909 PPG) NY: 13 g, 2.00 Y/g, 1 R (0.08/g) OPP: 1.85 Y/g, 1 R (0.08/g) REC: 8 W - 4 D - 1 L (2.154 PPG) Previous matching or reverse fixtures: NONE EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMIFINAL, LEG 2 (2)New York City FC vs (5)Columbus Crew SC R: Kevin STOTT - 314 reg. season games, 3.08 Y/g, 74 R (0.24/g) 2017 reg.: 20 g, 2.15 Y/g, 3 R (0.15/g) All-time playoffs: 33 g, 3.58 Y/g, 4 R (0.12/g) 2017 playoffs: 1 g, 3.00 Y/g, 0 R NYC: 1 g, 0.00 Y/g, 0 R OPP: 0.00 Y/g, 0 R REC: 0 W - 0 D - 1 L (0.000 PPG) CLB: 37 g, 1.57 Y/g, 3 R (0.08/g) OPP: 1.30 Y/g, 5 R (0.14/g) REC: 10 W - 8 D - 19 L (1.027 PPG) Previous matching or reverse fixtures: NONE WESTERN CONFERENCE SEMIFINAL, LEG 2 (1)Portland Timbers vs (4)Houston Dynamo R: Ismail ELFATH - 103 reg. season games, 3.12 Y/g, 25 R (0.15/g) 2017 reg.: 21 g, 2.90 Y/g, 7 R (0.33/g) All-time playoffs: 6 g, 4.00 Y/g, 3 R (0.50/g) 2017 playoffs: 1 g, 2.00 Y/g, 1 R (1.00/g)* POR: 12 g, 1.50 Y/g, 0 R OPP: 2.00 Y/g, 1 R (0.08/g) REC: 6 W - 3 D - 3 L (1.750 PPG) HOU: 7 g, 1.43 Y/g, 0 R OPP: 1.57 Y/g, 1 R (0.14/g) REC: 2 W - 3 D - 2 L (1.286 PPG) Previous matching or reverse fixtures: NONE All team stats include regular season and playoff games *Includes second half of CLB-NYC as substitute referee for Alan Kelly
Couple of highlights: Toronto has historically done very poorly with Chris Penso in the middle, while the Red Bulls have done very well. This is only the second time in three seasons that Kevin Stott will be in the middle for an NYCFC game. He doesn't seem to travel to the east coast very often anymore.
You all stink, and I am vehemently opposed to any of the remaining teams winning MLS Cup. But if someone must win, then let it be the Crew. Not for you execrable Crewligans, of course. Rather, because it'll fcuk with Precourt and the MLS bigwigs. And to hell with them.
I'll wrap up work by 7 pm tonight and be home in time for the kickoff. Or anywhere from 10-30 minutes before kickoff depending on if 7:30 is broadcast start time or game time.
I've not seen any marketing push that would suggest this. I'm quite possibly oblivious (I've been drugged up on pain killers for some time now) but in the past I've seen something that shows there is a big attendance push going on - I've not seen anything this time.
