    So it's over.

What a colossal waste of time and money this lawsuit was. Seems to me this was a test balloon funded by the NFLPA. I feel slightly sorry for the run-of-the-mill MLS players who get paid diddly squat, but we all have choices in our career. Personally, I'd gladly take $26k a year to play soccer in place of 4 times as much doing just about anything else.

<pessimism>Now that the players are going to unionize, how long before there's a strike that kills MLS for good?</pessimism> I seriously doubt Saint Phil and Lamar Hunt will keep the league running if there's a prolonged strike. Without their deep pockets and ability to absorb MLS' startup losses, there wouldn't even be a lawsuit to talk about. The players party to the suit would be playing in the A-League or selling insurance. I'd love to see soccer players in this country with bargaining power, but given the current precarious state of the league, I don't see much leverage.
