No debate regarding Phoenix vs Arizona. I am content with Phoenix in the name. Could you imagine the California Galaxy? Blah.

I like the idea of a spanish name, which could help draw Latinos. I like Phoenix Diablos but others:

    Phoenix Frontera FC (means Frontier)
Phoenix Fuerte FC (strong or intense)
    Phoenix Furia FC (fury)

I just like the ring of having the "F" names follow Phoenix.

Ah, I would stay away from frontera, it also means border.

There was a team in the WSA called the Condors,, I believed played at MESA CC. I went there on a roadtrip against the California Heat... Logo could be a Big gracefull Condor clutching soccer ball, or standing on the top of the ball or soaring over the Grand Canyon or a desert scene.

    Phoenix Condors
    Arizona Condors

Be careful with including years. I am sure American's did something to Mexican's during those years and would have to change their name ala Houston 1836

A heat related name would be pretty perfect. I also like a cactus related name, Cacti? Cactus FC (although I hate the FC names)? Saguaros? I like Monsoon also

What are the chances MLS will bring another Mexican side? It would be ideal for attendance considering how many Mexicans showed up to the game last Feb.

    Which the US won 2-0....again!!!:D

Please no more Euro or Mexican owned franchises. I really hate the name Chivas USA (if anything, Chivas LA); and I am so thankful to Nike(if the rumors are true) for stopping Colorado from changing to Arsenal! Red Bull New York is more palpable because RB Salzburg isn't such a giant. We don't want MLS to be perceived as a feeder league, yet teams like Colorado and NY make those management mistakes...I mean come on Orlando AJAX (or AJAX USA)? How stupid does Club America USA sound or Club America Phoenix?

You build loyalty by playing quality football , and having a positive game experience and the fans will come...

Will there be less loyalty if they have a positive game experience and quality football and a euro/south american name?

I can tolerate any name that's not a non-s plural or ends in z

    ex: Firebirdz, Burn, heat, Sahuaroz

I'm not crazy about a carbon copy but if Club America wants to put a team in Phoenix and brand the franchise Club America Phoenix will that ruin the experience?

Phoenix Ladmos, you can give out bags at the games. (Anyone who is under 27 or didn't grow up in Phoenix will have no idea about this).

    Gilas?

If the team were named Club America Phoenix, it would indicate to me that the investors don't have enough faith in the diversity in the population of Phoenix and believe they have to have a crutch to be successful.

My post was directed more at the thought that it has to be a Mexican affiliate (ie. Chivas USA) or stocked with Mexican players as the only way to attract Mexican fans.

But the flip side is that while MLS (Garber, et al) are trying to market the league as a quality stand alone league, team management think they not only have to emulate traditional names (FC. Dallas) which I don't have a problem with, but a step further be in lock step with a traditional international power (Colorado Arsenal, Real SL) to give them legitamacy.

The best thing to happen was for the Chivas USA vision to fail, they are now a much better diverse team that will be a contender this year...

How about just plain old Phoenix 20xx (Phoenix 2009, Phoenix 2011, whatever).

Actually, maybe not. That sounds like the title of a bad sci-fi novel.

I like Phoenix Rising FC it's very unique and professional sounding. I also like the nickname Vaqueros, not an official name, just something to refer to the team as.

How about The Rising Phoenix for a more active intense name? I do agree that I like using Rising somewhere in the name.

I also like PHX Rising, just drop the F.C. I like the logo from website...www.MLSPHOEIXRISING.com Perhaps different colors: white, yellow, orange, red... I like the light blue, maybe with burnt orange. If I knew how to put logos together I would.

I also like the Phoenix Sol.
