There was word a couple weeks ago that they would wait to 2016 to field a team.

Also, a local reporter mentioned last week that the Riverhounds and Dynamo are going to meet in November to discuss the affiliation and if they want to continue it for 2015.

I'm not sure what to make of this article as there is a quote from the person that will be the GM for the USL team saying they won't make a 2015 launch, but then every thing else about the team says the Sounders will be joining the other Cascadian teams in launching a USL team in 2015.. But either way, the Sounders will have a USL team playing in Starfire either in 2015 or 2016.

I'm a little bummed that the Sounders are putting the team in Starfire though. I kinda like that they were considering putting the team in a different city to expand the brand, but I understand that keeping both the first team and the reserve team practicing in the same place has its own advantages.

Ahhh.. I have apparently developed a blind spot for the word "not". I seriously read that quote multiple times and missed it each time.

    Thanks!

Yes, I know this, and it's not the norm nor do I think it will continue to have 2 MLS teams affiliated with them. But that's just speculation (much like your Rochester-NYRB speculation).

I think this is mainly due to a geographical oddity - Sacramento is currently the only West Coast USL team outside the LA area, leaving no convenient options for affiliation. We will have to wait and see in the next few weeks what the Timbers decide to do about a "B" team, but they certainly have the means to create one. The 'Quakes will probably keep their arrangement, I see no reason that they wouldn't. As a fan of both the Timbers and Republic FC, I would hate to see the partnership end but I would completely understand.

The Quakes have said in the past that they do not want to have a their own team. With their background in baseball they understand and feel comfortable with the affiliate process.

Do we know if the affiliation process will change now that the reserve league is going away again. Affiliating was fine when you still had a reserve league, but if you are limited in the number of players you can 'designate' to your affiliate as you were with the reserve league. Then any team not creating their own USL reserve team will be rather limited in what they can do. Exciting times.

Well, there won't be the type of MLS reserve teams in USL Pro that we've had the last two years (where they play on a back field at StubHub or someplace). If there's an MLS-backed team in USL Pro, it seems to be playing in a place like Starfire or StubHub's track and field stadium or the place RSL wants to build.

It doesn't seem like practice facilities will be the way they'll go.

So far yes? LAII play in a 2k stadium, the Timbers II will be at Jeld-Wen, Sounders II will be at Starfire which is 4.5k, Real Monarchs are building a stadium an 8k seat stadium. The Whitecaps are also building a new stadium somewhere, but I'm not sure on the size. I'm also not sure on the rest of the MLS II teams.

Yes the only issue would have been the Red Bulls in the trainign grounds, but that is not going to happen any more, so so far so good.

And they shouldn't ... that's the point ... get games in atmesphere's different than practice to help develop them more. Games that matter, stadiums with fans in them, etc.

If SKC ever does it (not saying there's a rumor, just saying "IF") they have just added a 2500 seater to their training grounds ... it hosts things like the Big 12 Women's tournament and the U18/U16's play there ... it was just added recently.
