Anyone willing to bet It'll be Chivas at DC on ABC?

That may perhaps draw a nice crowd.

I'd rather see DC vs. CHI/SJ.

It'll probably be either San Jose at DC or DC at Los Angeles.

-The 14 year old phenom vs. the 21 year old sharpshooter (and potential MLS champs)

    or

-The 14 year old phenom vs. the wily and fast Carlos Ruiz in the brand new STATE OF THE ART HOME DEPOT CENTER....FOR SOCCER

    :D

Seriously, you gotta admit that those would be pretty awesome marketing pitches.

the first game has got to be at home and will be either Freddy v. DMB or Freddy v. Donovan. That would be a huge marketing angle.
First game will be at RFK with 35k +. I will be in chicago then and have already planned on coming back for the first game.

If the Fire win the cup, almost no question anyone with any sense will put their opener on TV. Travelling fans will add to the atmosphere. Fire - DC would be great.

On a side note, are you guys actually serious in thinking that Adu is going to start right out of the gate? Come on! He might be good, but he's only 14! (15 by then?). Zach Thornton could fart in his direction and blow him off the pitch.

If ABC is showing his team's game live, and he doesn't play, I will be very surprised. It means too much to the league to not have him out there. He might not start every game, but he will start the first game if it is on national network TV.

How about DCU vs KC. Old man versus kid. Preki at age 41 versus Adu 14 years old.

    Chivas in 2004?

Expansion will not happen until 2005, folks.

But DC/Freddy will be in that opening day broadcast.
