I'm sure we can do it. I'd be interested to see the corporate side of things. I'm sure we could get Sonic to go for it and some local banks, etc. Kerr-McGee, maybe even Devon. I just can't wait to get the drive underway.
Shhhh! That was talked about for a bit, and then the impression I get (from people who know people, so take that fwiw) is that Express Sports decided they don't really need to do that to impress MLS. Guess you can read it one of two ways 1. They don't really want a team, or already know it's not sustainable (though I think they would have just dropped it had this been the case) 2. They figure they can have the team if they want it, and don't want to jump through this particular hoop when they have other things (investor group to build, stadium to deal with, buying a minor-league baseball team, etc.) 3. Maybe they just didn't want to take people's money for vaportix. Personally, I'd think a ticket drive would be a nice way to build early excitement, and get people locked into the idea of it really happening. Bonding and all that. (And if I'm dead wrong or way behind on this, feel free to correct me)
Re: Shhhh! Hmmm... a SSS north of town... no season ticket drive... Sounds like the Miami Fusion revisited?!?
Was their I/O experienced in sports franchises? (My recollection is that he was not, but I could be wrong.)
