I am kind of hoping they sell a crap ton of tickets, like 60k or more, then he doesn't play

Okay, that's kind of perfect. I do root for SKC, so if they're going for a money grab, I want them to grab a bunch.
But as noted above, i also want SKC to win matches (I know, we tie matches this year, that's our thing), and that's a lot easier if Messi is limited, or resting.

Well that's gonna blow the all time regular season SKC attendance record out of the park by just a smidge, lol.

Will make it the largest attended soccer game in MO (current record is a Madrid/Inter friendly at the dome 54k).

I'm rooting for a goalless draw and a Messi red card. For no real reason. If it's a really bad call it might help the referee union haha.

Messi is last second scrub doesn't play and we grind out a 0-0 draw is worst. Or no Messi and they score 2 in the first 7 minutes and we lose 5-nil.

I'm thinking Messi doesn't play, Suarez scores, Pulido scores, then SKC wins 2-1 on a stunning last second JFR goal and... Arrowhead has emptied down to about 19,000 people, the other 50,000 having left convinced they'd been ripped off and forever dissing SKC and MLS.

Once again, Latif on the move. That is a tough midfield to crack, but he's such a versatile player. I wish him luck, kind of wish we'd make the move, though.

He struggled to get on the field last year after his move to a horrid Toronto team. I'm not in the mood anymore to bring players back just b/c they played here before.

True, but that was a total mess of a TFC and I'm not sure there is any lesson to be learned from it. Hell, even the Italians are playing well this year.
I don't see him as a starter, but he provides really nice depth, across the midfield, and on the wing up top. He's an affordable Swiss Army knife.

As far as points added, is there a more valuable player in MLS than Burki?
These Gals are really fun, and they put STL under a lot of pressure. And Burki is just up to everything. With a human in goal, LAG would have won by 2 to 5.

He was on $660K last year according to the MLSPA. That's an expensive Swiss Army knife on the bench when we're already got a guy like Shelton making way too much money there too.

Based on how TFC are playing, Bradley + Bradley was the issue.

As for Latif, no thanks. Too many useless $600K players on the roster already. No need to add another.

Yup, but that's why we will see him pulling on a SKC jersey any day now.

I'm not saying we'd get as much use out of him as we do out of our current $625k bench options, Shelton and Tzonis. That would be an unreasonable expectation.
Just out of curiosity, buzz, if you agree Latif is a Swiss Army knife, albeit an expensive one, what type of knife are those two?
But Blessing has played at a passable MLS level at the 6, 8, 10 and 7. As we know, he was brought in as a 9.
I think he's a good pickup for Houston. As a starter, he's no longer in the best 5 in his midfield position in MLS. But as a depth piece, Latif is someone who can hold down a position during an injury crisis, he's got good value.

Shelton is an overused knife that's been dull for years. Tzionis is a nice knife that doesn't get used enough. It's not that I think he'd be a bad addition, it's that I think it'd be a bad addition b/c of his salary and the amount of money KC already has sitting on the bench/not in the game day roster, we don't need to add another one.

This past weekend, Tzionis was not in either SKC or SKC II lineup. Literally being paid not to play.

Its a very messed up situation. They wouldn't take a transfer fee for him in the off seaon or just buy him out but he's not even good enough to warrant SKC2 minutes? It has to be personal.

Seems appropriate to discuss him in the MLS non-skc thread

Let’s hope the MLS refs are better than the replacements.

    Man, are those even workable?
I get the idea, but esp the injury one seems like chaos is assured. I guess with the injury one, players will be allowed to hop off the nearest sideline. the slow walk, which is global, is realy cutting it close to 10 seconds. OTOH, if they enforce at the same level they enforce keepers holding the ball, it shouldn't be a problem

I almost had to check the date when I read it to see if it was April 1. Going to be fun watching how this is implemented this weekend.
