I saw part of it. It's kind of a typical Quakes II game where they more or less dominate the run of play but can't score and then get scored on against run of play. They really should have had the tying 1 goal with all the chances, and then St. Louis had that banger to get their 2nd. Then more panicked play to try to get a goal back leads to another GA.
The final score is: 2 - 5 GO EARTHQUAKES II !!! -G P.S. = Please don't post results of other soccer games and other sports' games in this thread until at least 24 hours after they've ended.
Cano comes back from international duty and DeGeer doesn’t play him. Guess he’s happy with the defense.
To my eyes it didn't play like a 5-2 game but St Louis hit some bangers, and as usual, Quakes II had trouble converting all of the danger they created in the final 3rd into goals.
This is very much why I wish the Quakes would have hired Ian Russell. At every level the Quakes dominate possession but don’t create or finish good chances. It’s a consistent flaw in the system they play. Even youth scouts from other teams have commented on the fact that the Quakes’ possession game doesn’t translate into goals. Contrast that with Philadelphia which doesn’t obsess with possession but shreds teams up on the scoreboard.
I think if Niko played more at CAM they'd do better. You need a playmaker. He was creating a lot of opportunities last night even though he was playing more of an 8 I think. But yeah, Ian's Reno teams always scored a lot.
I read on Twitter that Bouda suffered a serious injury during this game and it took the medical staff a while to get him off the field , any who was there confirm this?.
