Not the best Quakes 2 game. They are getting outplayed and very lucky to be up 1-0. Now Rajagopal out with a red and it’ll be rough to get points out of this one.

No one standing out too much. I always like how KK plays and I think Dossman is a real solid CB. Better than Floriani IMO. Mendoza’s been good..

The guys who are not playing are probably gonna be on the USOC roster: Adimabua, Floriani, Buck, Fernandez,… Mendoza is playing so he problem won’t be on the roster. All the aforementioned traveled to KC so there’s that too.

It looks like maybe only three of us were watching this (?) but it was a weird game in that Minnesota seemed to play better before they were up a man, and the Quakes II played better after the red. I was glad to see they didn't even try to bunker for the second half.

I actually went to the game. The Quakes did a good job holding the lead in the 2nd half. They did more or less bunker - when Minnesota had possession in our half, they kind of formed a line of like 7 on top of the box! But it worked. Minnesota did have some good chances though, that either went over the bar or off the post, and Crockford stuffed one breakaway in the 1st half. (BTW what happened to Montali? He's got a 1st team roster spot, as does Crockford but has been nowhere to be seen).

Bohane and De Flores both started and played the whole game, or close to that. They both have more or less blond hair, similar build and wear numbers in the 90's so it's hard to tell them apart. Bohane is the more blond guy. They will heretofor be known as "The Stanford Blond Guys". They may not be super skilled but they both battle hard. De Flores played right back, which I don't think he would normally play, but he did pretty well.

BTW sounds like the new home of Quakes 2 is gonna be USF. Next game is there I think.

Lucky you! (Though I was glad to have a blanket and a warm dog on my lap.) The defensive line looked effective -- my definition of bunkering is not making an offensive effort, and they kept trying to move the ball up the field, though maybe not as assertively as they would have if they had been evenly matched. Both teams had quite a few wild shots -- Fotmob says three shots on target for us, two for them.

The announcer wasn't quite as bad as the guy last night, but he did drool a bit over the number of players affiliated with Stanford, describing it as "a match made in heaven." (We were wondering why the league doesn't use two announcers for these games. It would be easier for us and for them.) He was also pretty confident, until the end of stoppage, that Minnesota was going to score, which made it way more stressful than it should have been.

We were also wondering about Montali and I spent some time searching, to no avail.

Maybe he should just go to a Stanford game, for his heavenly experience.

Yes, they tried to counter and almost had a 2nd goal when Mendoza had a pretty good chance, but alas too close to the keeper. The chances would usually come when someone would get the ball in space on a counter and beat his man. I think Donnery did it once or twice and maybe one of The Stanford Blond Guys also.

Bummer that they're gonna play at USF. I think maybe I'll make it to one game. It's not convenient for public transit and I'm not too keen on driving up there.
