MLS NEXT Pro: Colorado Rapids 2 - Earthquakes II Semifinal (Sunday, 10/8) pre/in/postgame thread [R]

CO had a stellar record this year, 19-4-5. They beat the Quakes 2-0 in SJ and then the Quakes took a 2-0 lead in CO on a goal and an assist by Skahan (probably the game that got him some looks again with the 1st team), but we gave up 2 late goals for the tie.

 

That gives me optimism. Quakes ii was vastly better on the road and Colorado couldn’t beat them there. Advantage Quakes ii.

 

No reason we can't beat them, especially if we send our "A team", including Munie and Bouda.

 

Bouda - unlikely, with Skahan back - Akinola didn't even make the bench last game I don't think. Munie - could be but with Mensah, Rodrigues, and Beason, Luchi may figure he's got CB covered

 

This Colorado team is very easy to hate. It was not easy to notice on video the last time the Quakes played them but they have a nasty habit of knocking down opponents after they release a pass. Jerry Ayon got completely cleaned out long after the ball was away and the ref was looking up field. Since they don’t have VAR these guys just punk players off the ball. I sincerely hope the Quakes kick their ass. I can’t stand teams that are that dirty.

 

Quakes issued red card in first two minutes.

 

DOGSO red card to Verhoeven in the 2nd minute. Questionable call as there was another defender who I thought was in position to back him up.

 

Quakes II seem completely unbothered playing down a man. CO seem to have no idea how to score against Quakes low block and the Quakes are getting a few counter opportunites. Munie is playing as a RB, and man against boys, contributing on both sides of the ball. They need to get a proper thru ball to Bouda. I'd bring in Chow as another speed guy who could run onto a thru ball.
