I think there was a huge overreaction to the Hillsborough incident. Instead of eliminating standing room sections altogether, they should have thoroughly inspected them and created stricter codes (reinforcement, maximum capacity, etc.). I've been to several matches in Germany and I think it's integral to the atmosphere. The tickets are cheaper which makes it more accessible to the wider population. You shouldn't have to lose a day's pay just to see a live soccer match.
NBC Sports Network's ratings take biggest drop in eight years after overhaul NY Post Haters will keep hatin'.
So they're still working with old technology. Well nothing to worry about. Anyone have links on the ratings for the last couple of games, starting with the Sounders/Dynamo game?
In another related story, bigsoccer poster fails to realize this article is simply rehashing numbers that were already out/a fact already known and discussed at length by anyone actually paying attention to the matter rather than just trolling ... ... local news at 9.

I don't know about you guys but I'm digging watching Darts on NBC Sports. Arlo White is the studio host and they are currently showing the European Darts Championships in Dusseldorf one hour/match at a time. Great atmosphere as usual . . . every Darts match I've seen has had a great atmosphere. Small obscure sports like this is what built ESPN when they started. Softball, Aussie rules, fishing and hunting shows and stuff like that were the norm when they started out. I wish NBC Sports, CBS Sports and the upcoming Fox Sports all the luck. I can't stand ESPN and haven't sat through a sports center in about 8 years.
ESPN respectfully discusses MLS all the time. Why is everyone complaining? [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QJ5679eA3Y"]The Onion's SportsDome Makes Fun of ESPN's Coverage of MLS; Major League Soccer. - YouTube[/ame]
Am I the only one that feels the commentators are hard to hear during games? Had to use head phones for LA-NE, and I could just barely make out Arlo White's voice behind the roar of the crowd most of the time. Maybe it's just me, though.
I don't have this problem but I do agree that NBCSN mikes the crowd better than ESPN does (I am not sure FSC ever even bothered)
Yes, very hard. It's the same way on their Sunday Night NFL broadcasts. At times I was hearing people in the crowd more then Arlo.
Yes, Arlo & Kyle were impossible to hear 80% of the first half Sunday night. I sent NBC Sport an e-mail during halftime with my comments. The second half was just happened to be much, much improved - wonder if they made a technical fix to the audio or if enough LA fans went home at halftime... (While I'd like to take some credit, my guess is that my comments weren't received until read by some poor secretary in New York on Monday morning and sent into the nearest dustbin... )
ESPN discusses whatever the nation is interested in hearing about. You want ESPN to talk about MLS? Then make it something worth talking about.
