http://www.ussoccer.com/news/fullstory.sps?inewsid=36854 Just wondering what the BS thoughts are. It's about halfway down. I think it's pretty decent of Arena. I wonder what the criteria for release was...
I hope Arena wasn't trying to "play god" with respect to MLS results this weekend. I notice that both Mathis and Howard are released, but Klein wasn't.
Exactly, and I've been bitching about it everywhere I get a chance. A total crock of S*** if you ask me.
MetroStars vs Wizards released Tim Howard (MET) Clint Mathis (MET) not released Chris Klein (KC) Fire vs United released Bobby Convey (DCU) DaMarcus Beasley (CHI) not released Earnie Stewart (DCU) Chris Armas (CHI) Carlos Bocanegra (CHI) Rapids vs Galaxy released Pablo Mastroeni (COL) Dan Califf (LA) Crew vs Earthquakes released Jeff Cunningham (CLB) Frankie Hejduk (CLB) Landon Donovan (SJ) not released Kyle Martino (CLB)
You'd think it'd be the other way around, if anything, considering that Mathis and Howard are almost locks to start and Kleiny is if-y at best.
Damn it, so I'm guessing the New Zealand friendly is going to be kind of like the Wales one: A chance for the guys on the fringe to compete for starting spots on the Confed Cup. I doubt any of the released players play Sunday. *sigh* I wanted to see a nearly full strength squad go at New Zealand.
I wouldn't be too surprised to see some of them play both, at least a half or so for both... Anybody know what the sub rule's gonna be for the Nat's game?
Yeah, which is why I said kind of. It's not who most people would pick for starters, but they're probably our B team. At the moment they are, anyways. I wouldn't be suprised to see at least one of them earn some starts after the Confed Cup.
The roster for NZ therefor is: Hahnemann, Marcus GK 6'3" 220 06/15/72 Cannon, Joe GK 6'2" 190 01/01/75 Berhalter, Gregg D 6'1" 175 08/01/73 Bocanegra, Carlos D 6'0" 170 05/25/79 Cherundolo, Steve D 5'6" 145 02/19/79 Vanney, Greg D 5'11" 169 06/11/74 Gibbs, Cory D 6'3" 178 01/14/80* Armas, Chris M 5'7" 150 08/27/72 Klein, Chris M 6'1" 180 01/04/76 Lewis, Eddie M 5'10" 155 05/17/74 Martino, Kyle M 5'10" 144 02/19/81 Stewart, Earnie M/F 5'9" 145 03/28/69 Kirovski, Jovan F 6'1" 175 03/18/76 Twellman, Taylor F 5'11" 170 02/29/80 *taken from kicker and converted from cm/kg to inches/lbs
What does that have to do with anything? Seriously. All of Kansas City is going to turn out to see the final MLS game of the opposing team's keeper?
UM... it would be his last game... no one said anything about the fans having to see him for the last time. Its about timmy. and i bet you'd get 5-10 people comming just to catch him...lol
