PBP: MLS N&A Running USMNT and other International Games Thread {R}

I think it was a run out for the squad players. But Morocco are proving the World Cup wasn't a fluke. It also looks like the big domestic clubs are creating infrastructure along the lines of the French, Dutch and Spanish clubs their players are being sourced from. Barca and PSG have also created academies in Casablanca.

 

The men's gold medal game is great so far. Worth turning in for the second half if you haven't.

 

France keeps knocking to get back in this game, but Spains defense is stout, as is their GK.

 

I don't know if Egypt rotated their lineup, but Morocco had the big guns in it.

 

Brazil could easily have multiple goals in the first 20 minutes of the gold medal game against the US. American players sure look to be on shaky legs.

 

There were a few unfamiliar names in Egypt's eleven.

The only change they made from the semi was to replace Fayed who had been sent off. This isn't the World Cup third place game!

 

The worst call of all time by John Champion as he confidently pronounces the US goal as "probably offside". So I am like, ok offside it is, she must have seen something. Nope, good goal and turning point in the game that I didn't celebrate at all. Thanks a lot announcing team! At least Tom Cruise got to celebrate.

 

Everyone remember most of the media and pretty much every influencer on Twitter saying the uswnt will literally never be good again because they lost a world cup match on penalty kicks, right?

I wasn't paying attention to the PBP, but I clocked it as offside before the goal was scored and assumed it would be overturned, so I didn't really celebrate. Sophia Smith was clearly in an offside position, and I'm still not sure that considering her not involved was the correct call.

 

That's usually how it's called these days.

 

I really really just can't enjoy anything anymore. I watch a great game in any sport, go online and it's "rigged". Everything is rigged, everyone is miserable nobody ever actually wins anything, just rigged. It's so exhausting and it's really making it impossible for me to reboot sports at all.

 

You probably need to delete your Twitter app. If you can't do that, block every "influencer" that shows up in your feed.

 

This has been happening since the 90s when a team I support would win a big game so I hop on irc to discuss and it's rigged rigged rigged rigged rigged. Everything always rigged. So now instead of watching to see who wins I only watch for evidence that a game isn't rigged. And hell, what do I know? Where there is smoke, there's fire right? If everyone thinks everything is rigged, then it probably is...

You need to get off of social media.

The algorithms mean that if you keep interacting with people who say things are rigged you'll get more and more posts saying things are rigged.

Hundreds of people have been arrested in the UK in the past two weeks largely because they believed what their social media algorithms fed them about immigrants.

Btw, those Chinese swimmers are totally doped.

The irony of Pochettino becoming NT coach will be that he'll probably call up a bunch of MLS players.

 

The chaotic side of me kind of wants him to call up nothing but European based players, and they still somehow lose to a Costa Rica/Panama/Honduras...not sure who/what they'll blame at that point, the ghost of Berhalter perhaps.
