English fans seem to be the common denominator.

Oh and how many millions of viewers were lost when Joe Biden came onto their screens? Imagine being a MAGA seeing him on a day like this.

I don't know what happened in Charlotte other than Nunez was allegedly told that his family was being attacked and acted like a complete thug banging his chest and even attacking the security.

Reaction in the UK was more about Nunez's behavior than what provoked it with suggestions that he should be given an effective worldwide FIFA ban.

As far as fighting between fans is concerned it's just a CONMEBOL thing. I don't know if CONMEBOL thought it wouldn't happen in the US, or if they just didn't care.

I agree that he should be banned for a long long time. Was shocked they let him play the 3rd place game.

Well, I'm hoping FIFA is paying attention and they'll do a significantly better job. I really don't know how much they can do though... If fans can't even peacefully make their way into the stadium...

They're already doing a better job.

    From September last year
"A group of international and North American based FIFA experts leading key operational areas – from transport and stadium operations to hospitality and pitch management – visited half of the venues between Wednesday, 20 September and today, holding talks with local colleagues in Miami, Houston, Atlanta, Kansas City, Boston, New York New Jersey, Philadelphia and Toronto. Besides discussing matchday operations inside and outside the stadiums and meeting with governors, mayors and other public authorities, the group took in an MLS match at the Atlanta Stadium and an NFL game at the Kansas City Stadium during the tour."

    From ESPN last week.
    CONMEBOL
"For the inaugural match at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, pitch installation started three days prior to the game on June 17 when a refrigerated truck transported the rolls of grass to the stadium for stadium crews to complete the 48-hour conversion. The panels of grass were laid on top of the artificial turf individually to create the necessary cross-sections, before the CONMEBOL crew began the aesthetic work of outlining the pitch."

    FIFA
The tournament will employ 16 host stadiums, 84 training sites and 178 practice fields, making uniformity complicated the way it has been throughout the Copa América. The challenges prompted FIFA to implement a research and development project to produce the perfect pitches for the tournament after announcing the host cities in June 2022. FIFA intends to tackle the problem of uniformity differently than CONMEBOL, giving participating countries hope that a solution may be found ahead of the 48-team international competition in two years.

Yeah I'm aware that they're taking the fields far more seriously at least. It'll cost us a few rows of capacity, but it's worth it

I do wonder how NFL teams feel about it though. Will they be able to revert the stadiums for the season?

Before I went on vacation, I saw a local Seattle program that talked about how the grass for the World Cup games in Seattle is already being grown in a hidden location.

Our favorite influencer troll paid 1500 for his ticket and left before the game started because he didn't feel safe supposedly.

What a nightmare for inter and for MLS who wanted him for the all star game. And for me who wanted to see him in the all star game and later the playoffs.b looking at that swelling his career is probably over.

I conclude the night with this:

At the end of it all, it ends in tears for all of us.

Also - do the tears mean Messi is done with football??? Or maybe done with Argentina at least? Or just done with major tournaments, meaning no final run in '26???

Most likely he is crying because he will miss the MLS All Star Game.

Have you ever sprained an ankle? He’ll be out for a while, but almost certainly back playing in MLS this season.

But come on man, don't you realize this is the end of soccer in America? No-one ever bought a season ticket or attended any matches before Messi arrived. It's over, we may as well quit! And 100% sentiment on the one tweet I looked at from itsasumconspiracymlssuckspprorelforusa suggests that the US shouldn't get the World Cup in 2026.

I'm sure he'll just blame the USSF and SUM, and then go into denigrating MLS as well, like always.

Ahhhh, there we go! The Social Media Trolls never fail to seize an opportunity.

This is the same social media platform that I'm limiting my worldview by not being a member of, right?
