Colombian fans chanting "USA, Colombia es tu papa!"Doesn't need much translation.#USMNT— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) June 8, 2024
I have gone to my last AO watch party this cycle. The flood of exaggerated anti-Berhalter rants, and the people vocally rooting for the US to crash out of Copa America early so Berhalter gets fired, were too much.
Don’t root against your team but bringing back Gregg was the wrong call. Stepping outside of the comfort zone which is CONCACAF makes that clear.
What gets the fanbase (and most pundits) excited about this team is the individual player pool and where said players play. But this team has not had one marquee win under Berhalter thus far. (Unless you want to count beating the worst generation of Mex players). #usmnt pic.twitter.com/iSdRlZfIJ9— herculez gomez (@herculezg) June 8, 2024
I don't think he's a world-beater, but anyone claiming that he's never won a game without a big talent advantage, or that his tactics have never changed since he was hired, is not living in reality.
After watching Canada's performance..... is anyone really convinced that Jesse Marsch could propel this team forward as a serious World Cup contender? From the information that's been put out there, it was either bring Gregg back or go with Jesse.
He hasn’t proved he can coach a game again better opposition. If he once had tactics I fail to see any now. The last year and change relied too much on individual performances to squeak out undeserved results.
Watched the second half of Aruba-Curacao after dinner, watching Cayman Islands - Antigua & Barbuda now. (Cayman Island's starting forward was drafted by the Rapids but went back to school for another year). Watched Anguilla get run over by Suriname 4-0 this afternoon, while wearing my Anguilla kit.
BTW the reason I own a Anguilla kit is that the graphic designer/soccer fan who did the Centennial 38 logo was the designer for Anguilla's current kits, badge, and other assorted imagery. https://getconcacafed.substack.com/p/-how-caribbean-national-teams-started
Canada, Mex and US.. the Trio de Dangers of Concacaf all getting smacked around by teams from outside their neighborhood… not a great look, its a 3 way battle for best of the worst… Perhaps US is worst based on the “potential” of the collected talent.. heres hoping Copa provides “clarity” for us going forward
Its all theyve ever contributed to Futbol.. surprised its not part of their National Anthem by this point “Mexicanos a grito de puuuutos”
