It's a long road to 2026.

 

Looks like Field 19 at the Antigua Soccerplex. They used to play their home games in nice cricket stadiums.

 

Antigua's cricket ground is one of the venues in the current T20 World Cup.

 

It is named after a cricket legend. But they had to rely on the Chinese government to fund it as Antigua's Gross National Product is about the same as a busy Walmart.

 

Love Darwin Nunez got a sloppy a goal on Mexico.

I don't know why it surprised me, but I was a bit disappointed that Paramount+ didn't air any of the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers. It showed the Nations League games in the past. I guess there wasn't a big sponsorship deal to help out.

The biggest surprise from the 6 matches Wednesday was Trinidad & Tobago being held by Grenada in a 2-2 draw. Antigua & Barbuda played to a 1-1 draw with Bermuda, and the other 4 matches were easy wins for the designated home teams:

Suriname 4-1 St. Vincent & the Grenadines
Curacao 4-1 Barbados
Nicaragua 4-1 Montserrat
Guatemala 6-0 Dominica

 

I read an article the other day (but I can't find it again) that there was an attempt to bundle the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers but it failed. Honduras and El Salvador signed individually with Fanatiz PPV which is also doing some of the CONMEBOL games. Everyone else is doing their own thing.

Did CONCACAF fire SUM?

This would have been a great scoop for Apple TV.

 

In the last cycle the English rights for all of CONCACAF WCQ except USA home games were bundled and sold to CBS/Paramount+. But that included Mexico games and the USA away games. Take away the those teams and the interest from a platform to buy the full bundle is going going to be small.
