These Nations League games carry extra weight right...the top few teams qualify for the combined Copa America, or did I dream that?
That starts with the next CNL. The extra weight games are this fall and next spring. EDIT: I guess these games will have some power to determine who gets into the games this fall. https://www.concacaf.com/news/conca...al-team-competitions-for-the-2023-2026-cycle/
Let's hope it goes better than last time they played on an island in a stadium named after the host country's greatest track athlete.
It's disappointing that the best 400m runners don't run the 400m open right now. Hopefully we will see some of the better runners actually run it on the women's side, but I'm not looking forward to anything on the men's side. US is winning 1-0.
Interesting to see McKennie and LDLT as the deeper mids in a 4-2-3-1. There's a little more license to go forward because there are two of them, but they're both attack-minded 8s and they've been caught out of position at times even playing against Grenada.
Grenada has scored! Grenada has scored! 3-1 They had previously hit the post after a Turner save. Grenada is embarrassing the US in any sort of transition.
That Grenada goal came from McKennie and LDLT both going toward the ball. Likely miscommunication between two players who are not DMs.
Yet another tactical foul on Pulisic. We're getting to the point where the referee really should consider a yellow for persistent infringement.
First ever competitive match for the USMNT to not have an active MLS player in the starting XI since the league started play.
It was like watching u-7s, all running at the ball. Yet somehow, after the goal, people were complaining about Trusty and McKenzie on the play. Go figure.
It was pretty obvious to me. One of the DMs needed to stay in position and cover the top of the box. One of them needed to call off the other so that they weren't both sliding over to the ball.
May not have an active MLS player tonight, but seven of the starters were developed in MLS. With three of those seven being Union HGs.
That was a pretty good first half. Your father's USMNT would either have a 1-0 lead or be in scoreless dogfight...and Grenada's keeper would be getting contract offers from Man City.
