Our heroes are rampaging through all comers. Despite several stars and fan favorites being away due to injuries, the depth of talent and skill that the leaders have been able to put together is Massive. The yellow wearing CREW seem unstoppable, but this next episode may test that belief. They now face a tough and talented group from a older and altogether less fashionable city to the east. Can our favorite band of lovable heroes emerge victorious again?
Saturday was an emotional experience. I hope the players have rebounded more quickly from it than I have. I do worry about a hangover from Saturday affecting our focus and sharpness on Wednesday. Then of course we need to travel again to Austin next Sunday.
Eloy got his ring today, which i assume means he's no longer in quarantine and is available to play Wednesday: .@EloyRoom & @EzraHendrickson presented with their championship rings today 🖤💛 pic.twitter.com/gey6ZOYPXP— The Crew (@ColumbusCrew) June 21, 2021
Also says the Ezra got his which is the first time I’ve seen him mentioned since they announced his medical leave
Slowly getting the squad back in shape: And here's where the Doops stand on the injury/availability front:
Mid-week games tend to drag. We will see if the historic 2-0 victory carries enthusiasm into this match. The Buster choice seems very risky. @hardhead, enjoy traveling to an away game!
This in-depth preview of the game tonight on the team's website is really....something. https://www.columbuscrew.com/news/preview-columbus-set-for-road-clash-at-philadelphia Really paints a picture of what to expect. No quotes from players or coaches, no injury report, no mention of line up from the previous games. Calling that a preview is really pushing the definition. "We play Philly tonight, we played them before and we both had previous matches where there was a score. We have a player named Zardes, they have a player named Glesnes, both scored goals." I feel so well informed.
I wish it went into how we would counter Philadelphia coming back from two down to tie the game in the final ten minutes ten years ago. For that matter, how is Porter going to deal with Freddy Adu -- yes, I did have to pull up the NER game results from September 2011 and Adu scored the third.
