    Outlook
After two frustrating and deflating defeats the Crew face DC United, who are fighting for the top spot in the East. After this home match, the Crew will have repeat the previous two matches (SKC/DCU) away from home. If they hope to secure any points in this tough July stretch, this is the best place to start. After a personnel shakeup, will the "regular" defensive line show up or will we see another experimental lineup? Will Arrieta's old teammate Vargas pair better with him up front? Will O'Rourke or Mirosevic be available?

As mentioned in the OTNT, DC United keeper Bill Hamid will miss the Columbus match due to a red card he picked up last night v Houston.

Who cares. Last year Philly started Zack McMath in his first game against us. We got off all of one shot on goal. DCU could run out a cardboard cut out of Hamid and we'll still get blanked.

YAY no backups... what is Speas going to play there now?

Edit: credit to Anor for going back out there but did anyone on the staff talk to him after that tackle? This just makes me question going to three in the back that much more and I already thought it was stupid. Going to three at the back with a very inexperienced LB was bad enough but we went to three at the back with a LB that was very inexperienced and significantly injured.

Not sure where to put his but this is interesting.

    Adam Jardy@AdamJardy
You watch some of those highlights from around #MLS after watching the #Crew96 and it almost looks like another sport.
    Duncan Oughton@Oughton8
@AdamJardy You know lots about soccer...not!

    Adam Jardy@AdamJardy
#crew96 fans...want to clarify a tweet from yesterday
I was watching halftime #mls highlights from around the league, seeing great finishes and plays on the offensive end...
...and my point was that we haven't seen as much of that from the#crew96as a whole. It's something we've all talked about, the...
...lack of finishing from the #crew96. I should've worded that much better and I apologize for the miscommunication.

I was 14 rows away from Anor when that tackle happened, and I could HEAR his knee crack. That was NASTY. I told my wife, "He's done." Needless to say, I was quite surprised when he got up and went back in. I thought he was doing pretty well for his first start at that position, though.

So we get rid of Francis for Vukovic and an untested, converted midfielder. Nice. Now who have we got? *crickets*

To be honest, I'm glad I'll be out of town on vacation for the DCU game. I just don't think I could handle it.

St. Dunc is and always will be one of my all time favorites, but he's got to stop drinking the corporate Kool Aid here...Jardy was right.

Too bad he had to save face. Cause he was dead right in his comment.

Actually, they could leave the spot empty and still beat us 3-1. We would hit the target once, miss another 5 shots that should have hit the target, and blast another 7-8 into the 5th row. So DC is safe in playing 11 field players. :D

He gets paid to publicly drink the corporate Kool Aid. Who know his drinking habits in private.

I'll take a different tack and say props to Duncan for standing up for the Crew.

Though I can't argue with what Jardy said either.

Dunc is a color commentator just being himself. He's not as ultra-homer as some others in the league though. That said, there are more professional ways to express disagreement while NOT coming across like a preppy teen.

Now back on topic a bit. This match is so much a must win one. DCU are legit (no shit, look at the standings) but they are vulnerable just like any other team.

If it had been some other dispatch sports guy that covers Ohio State 24/7 and just spouted off I'd be fine with most anything Duncan said. But to say "You know lots about soccer...not" to a guy that has been really quite good in my opinion with Crew coverage this year is a little over the top.

Willis will probably be fine against us, we don't really strike fear in opposing keepers.

If Anor goes on IR, can they re-sign Francis? Or is the international slot the issue?

Is there an injury report on Williams? He looked pretty p*ssed when he came off (and he asked for the sub).

I seem to recall Julius James playing that spot in our CCL game against RSL.

Yep just a cramp. He should be fine. If Anor goes on IR we could resign Francis but I think even IR players count against the International spots. I am not sure.
DC United is vulnerable but I don't think against our attack. I hope we have Miranda and Vuko back along with DO'R and Miro. Duka instead of Renteria (he needs a rest) with Arrietta. With that we might have a chance. MIGHT.
