RSL with a nice bounce back win over the Dynamo on Wednesday night now get to focus on the Colorado Rapids who are having a rather up and down season to date. The did get the win over Minnesota on Wednesday night as well which was their first win in 6 games. Their previous 5 were 4 loses and a draw. The Rapids have the same amount of goals, 23, as RSL but given up 3 more goals, 20 to 17, respectively. It's a rivalry game, of sorts, so I am actually expecting a pretty fun, and well played and well fought match. I think RSL goes back to the tried and true starting line up for the season. Minus injuries of course. Cabral Yedlin Quinton Junqua Gozo Sanabria Guilavogui Caliskan Spierings Luna Solans I would imagine at this point anyone that isn't 100% why risk with a 2 month break to really get fit? I'm actually looking forward to this one.
This is the game where we find out how injured glad actually is. If he doesn’t make the bench, my guess is he doesn’t play until after the break. Purely nitpicking, but the way you listed the lineup made me think you wanted Gozo and Sanabria at the pivots and I was super confused
No, just out there on the wings. Glad was in practice today and I heard him mention that things felt great. He could start or definitely get some minutes. Engel also was in practice as well. Both were full on getting after it during practice.
It's crazy that he'll have been on loan for half the season and no first team minutes (likely). The purchase is already planned apparently for August (I think). They have to sell Palacio first though to get the U-22 spot. They will also probably need to find another U-22 spot for Gozo if they keep him past the summer window.
Right now rsl is using the 2-4 model right? If push came to shove they could do the 3-3, from what I’ve seen. Or am I off on that? Not saying it’s the right move, but there isn’t a compliance concern entirely. Just a best utilization concern
DPs: Guilavogui (can't be bought down) and Glad (can be bought down, this saves them GAM). U-22s: Luna, Marczuk, Piol and Arias (Palacio is on loan and doesn't count, but this is why Arias is on loan now). I think you can move some of these guys like Luna and Piol off of a U22, but it'll have a decent hit to the roster budget. I think you might have to sell Marczuk, his salary is basically at the max for a U22 and not worth the Senior roster budget hit.
Great post med phys! I had high hopes for Marczuk. I work with many Poles and I’ve grown to really love their country and culture. But it hasn’t worked. As for the team that brands itself as Dicks… I don’t think we’ll fall flat like against Miami. I don’t think we’ll roll them like we did the Timbers. I do think weather, Colorado’s mediocrity and the heat of rivalry will lead to a tightly contested 3-2 outcome, and I hope that RSL avoid conceding via defensive boners so they can place a single hand on the cup. In other words, I expect a win if we can play boner free.
No Luna tonight. At all. Cabral Yedlin Glad Engel Booth Spierlings Caliskan Sanabria Gozo Solans Herzekhani Bench: Kerklveit; Quinton, Junqua; Dillon, Katranis, Marczuk; Guilavogi, Olatunji; Lineker (I can't remember where he plays)
Let's see if Booth is a better wingback than Marczuk. I'll be pouring one out for Ruiz. We probably don't see him again at this point if he can't make the roster over Dillon.
Lineker is a forward. Or a midfielder. 4 goals and 2 assists in 8 starts for the monarchs this season. Seems like a good person to add into the squad with Luna a late scratch.
Gozo! Needed three chances tonight, but there he is on the scoreboard again. Good pass from Solans. EDIT: Props to Booth for forcing the turnover which fell to Solans.
No changes by other club at the half. RSL definitely has some attacking pieces they can bring in. I expect to see Guilavogui by the 60th.
Hezarkhani is better starting and finding his rhythm with those nifty left footed angled passes, than he is off the bench. Some kids are just starters. He's a starter.
Definitely time for subs on the right side. With the fading of Herzakhani and Booth this half, we're all Gozo all the time.
The kids have played pretty well though. Booth is really aggressive and disruptive, it's been effective.
Pretty goal! Header by Solans. Service from Sanabria is what I expected from him since he signed, sublime.
