We get to talk about soccer. Our soccer. So...do we think this is rigged and we get the Smurfs or LAFC? Report back 12:30 tomorrow.
Swap SJ and Portland and you would basically have every legit Western Conf rivalry in the group stage.
Kinda over MLS’ bullshit at this point. Happy to see our boys play again, but I can do without having el trafico shoved down my throat the way it has.
Honestly I don’t care since this is a 2020 Armageddon pretend tournament anyway. I’m all for the best matchups with rivalries that might make the games more intense and exciting.
Group D is clearly the softest, assuming the teams are anything like they were when they last played.
I would care so much more if it was a single elimination tournament with a random draw. I’ve seen LAG play Houston and Portland 1000x and I already feel like I’ve seen that other team 1000x. It would be far more interesting to me to see us play an east coast team in a neutral setting when neither team had to travel 2800 miles the day before the game. If single elimination wouldn’t work, then make it double elimination like the college World Series. I’m still going to watch, and it’s probably going to be entertaining, because I like soccer and desperately miss MLS. I just don’t really care very much about the outcome because everything about this feels like it’s just an ESPN ploy to attract viewers who otherwise wouldn’t otherwise watch soccer/MLS. The logistics of this tournament are absurd. Playing 6 am games because by 11 it’s 90 with thunderstorms? Yeah sounds like a great idea.
That's the vote on mlssoccer.com right now. Not going to lie, it's almost embarrassing how much I'm looking forward to this. And now reading news about the roster actually matters!
