could we have two mls billionaires to help the league??? http://www.planetfootball.com/article.asp?id=110797&cpid=98&title=Seattle+up+the+stakes+in+MLS+bid
Great article, i say there is a good chance we are back to a 12 team league by 04 or 06 with a Oklahoma team and a seattle team.
Here's another link on Seatle's bid 4 an MLS team. MLS has plans to incorporate 4 additional teams to coincide w/ a presumed WC2k6 peak in interest. MLS should focus on drafting 2 franchises every 4yrs w/ the WC, but in the case of Seatle, they already have the lower 30k bowl to work w/ in a new stadium. People will go if only just to see the new pad and Allen's lackeys are willing to change the surface from fake grass to a real pitch. MLS should jump at the opportunity and should also promote the Rochester Rhinos to the 1st Div. If Rochester can't bring their finances in accordance w/ mls standards, then a Philly group can be placed at Philly's new stadium set to open next yr. MLS needs to broker a deal b/w the the Seatle Sounders and the 1st and Ten group, where as Allen would act as the executive managing partner & the Sounders handle on field technical direction. I think indoctrinating 2 A-league teams would be easier than creating 2 new entities. I'll put the crack pipe down now, cause this makes too much sense.
Even though it's a big stadium, it does have a roof, so it would probably have a better atmsophere than the other big stadiums, and of course depending on the fans also.
You're kidding, right? Paul Allen only wants another tenant for his taxpayer-funded stadium. Note that the article said that First & Goal was looking into finding an I/O to pony up the dough for the MLS team. If Allen was going to be the I/O, why is company looking for somebody else to foot the bill? Supposedly, a deal is in the works for the A-League Sounders to play their home games for the 2003 season at Seahawks Stadium, but I'll believe it when I see it.
MLS is seattle would be the best thing to ever happen to me... Right here is a 19 year old who has a specific bank savings account for money I spend on MLS merchandise and the shootout each season...Don't want to get my hopes up to high but I already have enough money in there saved for season tickets, I only live 50 min away from the stadium.. Go Seattle MLS Team!!! I would pick Emerald as team name, or stick with Sounders...
Considering the recent successes of Paul Allen's Jailblazers and Seahacks, I'd prefer to have another billionaire, if that's possible. ..and I'll believe the 2003 Sounders are moving to Seahacks Stadium when I see it. And then I'll buy a season ticket...again.
Sounders at Seahawk Stadium I put my name in on the Sounders site as someone who would buy season tickets if they moved to Seahawks Stadium a couple months ago. Well, I just got a call from the Sounder's office, and the guy I talked to is about 95% sure they'll play there next season, and is taking $75 deposits on season tickets. He said there should be a press conference in a week or two.
You really are on crack AND you're talking out of your ass. Listen Corky*, here's the deal. Seattle is where it's always been, looking for an investor. Until there is an investor, NOTHING is happening. 4th and Tacoma is NOT the investor. At this point, neither is Paul Allen. As for Rochester, their stadium won't cut it. Playing on a baseball field makes the Giants Stadium seem like Nou Camp. Until they're playing in a new stadium, there will be no MLS in Rochester. And what Philly group is there? Do suggest cities unless there are investors. Jeez, this post is incredibly dumb, even the lowered intellectual standards of post-Internet America. Unless you have $100 million in your sofa, don't go around spending other people's money. Did you understand this? Or do I need to type slower? * Apologies to Mike Segroves.
Hate to break this to you, spanky, but that article is dated July 19, 2002. We're now in the last week of September. And Wu Tang Clan is soooo three years ago. Yes, put down the crack pipe. Step slowly away. It may be hard at first, but you'll thank me later.
A bridge somewhere is short 1 troll! Thank you peaches, I noticed that b4 I attached the link but wanted a different perspective to be aired. The whole seatle thing is old news but it's just now getting attention, making it relevant. Wu tang clan's last good album was under the guise of Ghostface killer's alternate personality, Tony Starks, & I have ignored every failure since then, including the "W" which was released in 99. I've been a fan since '93 but you wouldn't understand the concept of loyalty. Why don't you go pick up that new Justin Timberlake solo, stare @ your Brad Pitt 8x4" glossy on your ceiling and lube up, Mary.
