there's now a website promoting MLS in the Oklahoma City Metro up. It's just brand new up and will be added on to later with images and news/info. www.mlsinokc.com
good idea i think this is a good idea. if you could add pics of the supposed stadium plan, and links to other mls/soccer sites (bigsoccer, mlsent, mls supporters club sites) so people could really get a feel of what kind of product and passion express sports and mls are trying to bring to OKC. john
I don't think anyone's going to be convinced by one sentence claims. I'd suggest backing those up with details as to what makes it true. I'm especially skeptical of #2: Really?
3 sources of funding for the stadium 1) University of Central Oklahoma 2) Edmond Public Schools 3) Express Sports It's a partnership between the three. The stadium will serve the UCO football and Edmond Highschool teams during the MLS offseason.
While it's possible csh2000 was referring to the financing plan, he may have also been wondering what a 'fancing' plan is
Yes, he could be asking what a fancing plan is, and I would understand that. What it is is just new techno garble for a "financing plan" that people use when they're illiterate and in a rush. So there ya go
I'm on a mac running IE 5.6. None of the images on the site come out. Are they .bmps? If so, make sure you convert to .jpg. Just a thought. tm
Neat photos of downtown OKC. How big is that riverwalk area? Isn't the new AAA baseball field in that part of town?
the canal is a mile long but will probably be extended later. it runs down to the river. the baseball field is indeed in this area as well. i'll try to get some pics of edmond and the UCO campus up as well as some more OKC pics.
i like the first pic of that stadium...is that being built new or is it a renovation of an existing stadium
VW, you can actually see the redhawks AAA baseball stadium in the backgroud of that canal pic, well at least the roof anyway as for the stadium being new or refurbished, it will be 95% ne wor so, the exsisting one is basically just one side one stand built onto a hill. to make it look like the artistic rendering will take a lot, but it looks so great there. definetly up to par with the Depot.
Anybody with any knowledge of OKC know any info or possible effects that Tornado season would have on a team in OKC? Does Tornado season fall at any point in the MLS Season?
Tornado season having any effects on OKC is the same as it having effects on Dallas or KC. It's a very minimal risk and doesn't really matter at all. The UCO campus was the first college in Oklahoma and is still standing strong since late 1800's. Tornado season is of very, very, very little concern.
do you have any links to this site on other sites? or is this just a site no one will see? if you dont have any links to it on other sites maybe you could ask expresssports to put up a link to your site. that would really help your cause.
for non midwesterns tornados arent too scray, they knwo exaclty where they are, and they can usually give you a block by block time table, you really could just move out of the way and watch.
I agree with you in general, however statsticly Oklahoma city has been hit by more tornados than any other place on earth since records have been kept. Edmond however is not Oklahoma city, so maybe we are in the clear
Edmond got hit relatively hard four years ago. Back when I was in college. One of my profs lost his house. http://65.64.94.136/tornado/
Well. That should've cleared some land for a stadium. As far as the stadium being new or not, if those pictures are what they'd build in Edmond, there's no way another stadium would get built in downtown OKC anytime soon after that. A little disappointing, as those downtown pics are attractive and cozy. It'd be a bit of a drag to have such a beautiful stadium built with nothing but suburbs around it. But we can't have everything. I'll take another team in MLS with its own field.
Hey now, try to be a little less rude to our Nacional. OKC looks like a nice town and the pictures of the proposed stadium look impressive. OTOH, we’ve seen some nice renderings out of Milwaukee and Harrison too, so I’m not getting my hopes up too high. But good luck with your expansion bid anyway.
well i think that our little stupid here didn't get the point... was i meant to say was that if that stadium is built, then it will be built fron scratch, and it will not be a restauration/renovation of something very vry old....
