I just saw an ad on HDNET that they will be broadcasting MLS games in HD this year. I can't find a press release on this. You'll need DirectTV and a Hi Def ready TV. I already watch the NHL on HDNET and it changes the whole experience. Maybe I'll host a watch party.... A big thanks to Mark Cuban of HDNET, Garber and Wilt. www.hd.net
You are so, so right. I have the same setup and it is incredible. You host the Chicago party, I'll have one for the burbs. I can't wait. I've been watching hockey games I don't even care about just because the picture is so incredible. In fact, the Hawks are on ABC right now and a replay of the Dallas game from last night is on HDnet. It's like it isn't even the same sport. Ive gotta email Cuban and say THANKS!
I heard something on this awhile back and am sure it's happening, but I don't see any ad on the site.
I was in discussion with Peter about this and he said he was going to explore it. I was involved in a number of emails with Peter and his staff about this. Cuban told me that they were already in discussions with MLS and voila, here it is!! Peter, being the best GM in any sport ever, was very enthusiastic about this and I'm quite sure he helped push it through. In fact, he entertains all my cockamamy (spelling?) ideas. Anyway, once you start watching sports in HD, everything else is unacceptible. The only HD bar in Chicago is at: Stanley's Kitchen & Tap 1970 N. Lincoln Chicago, IL Phone: (773) 642-0007 Perhaps a watch party should be organized there sometime. Not by me, I'm moving to the burbs. Who wants to buy a condo? The HDTV is negotible. http://www.realtor.com/FindHome/Hom...hicago&st=il&lid=03045341&x=0&y=0&poe=realtor If you don't use a realtor, I'll chop another 9 Grand off. Anyway, I couldn't find any info about this deal anywhere. But there it was, advertised during the Stars replay. Any soccer fans in Flossmoor? That's where I'm moving too. Not to excited to leave the city.
Actually, just last year Features in Naperville installed some HD sets. I don't know if they have the appropriate satellite setup, but I would be surprised if they didn't after putting those monsters into the wall Anyone got a schedule of games yet?
That's where I used to live. I do know one guy who (when he's not in school) lives in Hazel Crest. You'll learn that Flossmoor, Homewood, and Hazel Crest are really like one town.
Well, I've got a few confirmed HDNET broadcasts. The Fire site's schedule shows the following HDNET broadcasts: August 16, 2003 (LA at CHI) September 06, 2003 (CLB at CHI) October 11, 2003 (CLB at CHI) These are all Saturday games, at 7.30 PM central time (the September 06 game is scheduled for 8.00 PM).
SEE! The individual blades of plastic HEAR! The policemen tell Section Eight to stop swearing WATCH! The rubber fly with every Carlos Ruiz dive
Cute SEE! The eccentric denizens of Section 8 in all their splendor. HEAR! The expletives in crystal clear Dolby 5.1. WATCH! The smoke bombs fly! Whoops, I meant balloons. Too bad these are all home games, I'll be at 'em. Tivo doesn't come out with an HD Model until Christmas.
just to add to this (and for liam or just to edit the locked thread's tv schedule) here are the matches that fsw is airing: Saturday, 7/12 7:30 PM DC United at Fire Saturday, 7/26 7:30 PM Kansas City Wizards at Fire Saturday, 10/4 7:30 PM Los Angeles Galaxy at Fire
5 fire games carried on HDNet http://www.hd.net/mlsinhd.html Saturday, July 26th 7:30 PM Kansas City Wizards @ Chicago Fire Saturday, August 16th 7:30 PM D. C. United @ Chicago Fire Saturday, September 6th 8:00 PM Columbus Crew @ Chicago Fire Saturday, September 27th 8:00 PM Chicago Fire @ Colorado Rapids Saturday, October 11th 7:30 PM Columbus Crew @ Chicago Fire
It's really unfortunate because I have the hardware but they are showing all home games. I could host one hell of a watching party if this was a (far) away game!!!
September 27th, 2003. What? You think Denver is far away? Well, it is. But that game's on a Saturday. There's no excuse for not driving out there for that game I mean, Nunavut, that's far away. Alaska is far away. Chile is far away.
True, but Naperville and downtown Chicago are also far away for some of those with families. Such is life.
