I hope they take some direction from the supporters group and do the away/third kit with lots of purple or turquoise.
I don't want to dampen y'all's enthusiasm but I don't think there were any third kits in MLS last year. They have pretty much been phased out.
Yeah, Crew fans have been hoping to bring back the Grey jerseys worn during the 2002 season about every year since, well, 2002. Standby...
Which is crazy to me. In the grand scheme of things, they are probably some of the cheapest uniforms out there to manufacture. IMO they should follow the NBA and let teams create all the kits they want.
Unfortunately the $700million contract with Adidas probably dictates alot of that. scrap the league uniform deal and let the teams find their own way. More autonomy needs to be given to operators.
I mean, NBA makes it work with Nike. MLB makes it work with New Era , NFL does color rush. Just saying it's very possible.

Will Austin FC make an attempt to qualify for the 2020 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup? Recent announcements note playing in MLS in 2021. But a team of amateurs sponsored by a liquor store made it to the 4th round in 2017 so nothing should stop Austin FC from attempting to win their first trophy.
Thats a thought! I met Tyson Wahl on tuesdays announcement and he said theyre already setting up to play an academy team this year. And Im not sure if you watched the announcement but they are going to start awarding 30 youth soccer benefits to boys and girls starting this year. From what I know that's as far as the soccer operations are going this year. They could pull an LAFC and start signing players and loaning them out. i think there will be alot of information posted over the next year or so to keep Austin in the newspaper..
Any idea what league the academy team will be playing in? Or is it just the typical "We'll use this local youth team"?
No idea exactly, but their goal is to bring on a younger team (Mostly likely a lonestars DA), fund their team, and put them in Austin FC jerseys. Spoke to a former coach of mine at the announcement and he said there is a lot of movement with local coaching staffs because of the two pro soccer teams coming in. They're all very anxious about the investment in youth soccer market around here.

The perception alone that if this were to miraculously pass, every planning approval would have to be individually voted on, thus causing any public-private project to go through years of continual voting is hilariously ironic because these groups parade themselves as trying to improve government.
