MLS Goal of the Week to Kreis...why not Mina?

Anyone here see Mina's goal for FC Dallas last week?

How on earth did Kreis' header off a free kick win out over Mina's ridiculous 25 yard blast from the edge of the field into the upper corner? That's one of the best goals I've seen in any league anywhere in the last year at least.

I know it is a voting system, but something is wrong. Kreis is old, sure, and it's #101, but his header was nice but nowhere near the quality of Mina's goal.

Anyone agree with me on this?

    Jason's goal was nice.

    But Mina's was a golazzo!

Yet another example of ballot stuffing by our RSL friends, I'm afraid.

Everyone agrees with you, but RSL fans are so pathetic they feel the need to fuel their self esteems by stuffing an online ballot for gotw in an attempt to forget the horrible performances of their team week after week.

Two weeks in a row the RSL ballot stuffing has kept a much more deserving strike from winning. The real shame is that neither Burciaga's goal or Mina's goal will be eligible for Goal of the Year.

MLS realizes what happens and they often add the goals that were incredibly missed out back in for the GOTY voting.

Very true... Let's hope they do it this year.

There's a simple solution: don't let RSL score any more goals. It worked last year.

I'd like to take a moment to thank Real Salt Lake for filling the "insecure, delusional superfan" void left after San Jose's departure.

hey, our team sucks so we have to do something, we dont have anything else to do/talk about besides why ellinger should be fired. so we are good at stuffing polls.

if anything we show that other teams' fans should be more involved, if you TRULY cared, you would get the votes neccesary to win GOTW.

we are obviously very dedicated fans of RSL

    or extremely bored ;)

They probably won't. The best solution is to quit letting people vote multiple times. That is ridiculous!

Two MLS Cups? The Supporters' Shield? On low, low player salaries? Do results count in MLS?

    Agreed.

Seriously how hard is it to restrict this crap to one vote per IP?

You see, the thing is, RSL scores so seldom, that it is a such a huge deal they should be goals of the year. All the emotion that goes into the classic great goals of MLS-- The Balboa Bike, the McBride head, spin, and volley, the Wynalda first goal, the Johnston "Bleeding Head" assist to Molnar, all that emotion and drama goes into a single RSL goal because that happens about as often as a true golazzo in the rest of the league.

I could understand last week, great free kick. This week is just ridiculous.
