So RSL gets a quick turn around after falling 3-1 in Dallas and getting handed their 3rd loss in 4 games. I am not the greatest at picking lineups without heading to practice to see what pinnies players are wearing but maybe Pablo was just annoyed enough to make a few changes. We shall see. Cabral Yedlin, Quinton, Junqua Gozo. Sanabria Guilavogui, Spierings, Caliskan, Luna Olatunji Curious to see if the pressure is getting to RSL.
Caliskan and Spierings aren't working. Need to see something else in this one. He's not the profile of the guy you want in the middle, but I think Yedlin makes more sense in the middle of the CBs. I'd like to see more of a 3-4-1-2 in this one. Hezarkhani is probably deserving of a start in one of these home games, too.
I honestly think he'll be treated like Hezarkhani was last year. Made a good impression early and we didn't see him again the rest of the year.
maybe a couple times but he has been sent to the dog house. I thought I heard someone say that Pablo said he was having some sleeping or stress issues but I didn't want to go look. I really like Moisa and think he is a better addition to the midfield than Dillon but he probably has to earn his stripes or something stupid. He has a very involved family and they know how talented he is and have really pressed RSL to get him the breaks he deserves. Will be very interested to see how this game is approached in lineup and tactics.
He's good, but MLS is very physical. I'm not sure he's ready. I say that as a firm believer that if you're good enough, you're old enough.
I didn’t think he was dominated physically in the games he played. In fact I thought he brought some needed bite at times. I think it’s more along what goob is saying in that he had to prove something to Pablo I also remember reading about sleep and stress issues from the travel and training. At his age that can derail things fast so hopefully they’ve got that taken care of
Don't get me wrong, I thought he was impressive. Maybe he deserves some MLS minutes. I'm saying that he's not good enough to make up for his lack of size at the MLS level, right now. He's probably better playing at a lower level this year. Next year, who knows, but he needs to be playing somewhere this year and not riding the pine at RSL.
I get where you are going with this but I would rather have Moisa out there getting minutes over Dillon. The ceiling for him is much higher in my mind than for Dillon and I would love to see Luca get as many minutes as possible this season before he takes off for greener pastures.
Now that Ruiz is back in the mix, I think Moisa being with the Monarchs is exactly right. He's fourth choice at best (if you rate him now above Dillon) and then will be fifth when Eneli comes back (Eneli is coming back I think?). Dillon can get those minutes but let's get Moisa all the reps we can. Dillon has 19 minutes in the past six games, and none in the past four.
I was the guy that posted about Pablo saying he had a hard time sleeping and negotiating travel. Honestly, a USL loan might be better if he can start consistently. But it seems like skill/talent are not so much the issue as is the life of a being pro footballer at 16/17, and USL is definitely less kind to its athletes than MLS. Storied pros from other leagues have struggled with the travel too, (like NYRB’s DP GK who got a blood clot or something on the plane, which effectively ended his career) so I don’t really see this as much of a dig on Moisa. I hope we see him again, at least as a sub in some home games this year.
The weather looks...disruptive...up and down the whole valley right now (severe thunderstorm warning, 60 mph wind gusts). The forecasts say it should calm down by game time, but if they're wrong it could be a rough night for soccer.
Luca Moisa and Kobi Henry starting for the Monarchs in their game tonight. Also: OUT: Jesus Barea (knee) OUT: Emeka Eneli (knee) OUT: Ari Piol (Achilles) QUESTIONABLE: Juan Jose Arias (groin) QUESTIONABLE: Lukas Engel (hip) QUESTIONABLE: Justen Glad (groin)
League website suggests a 5-4-1. We'll see what the team socials indicate. Cabral Marczuk Yedlin Quinton Junqua Sanabria Gozo Dillon Spierlings Gulavogi Olatunji Bench: Kerkleveit; Engel; Caliskan, Ruiz, Katranis; Luna, Booth, Herzekhani; Solans
I'd rather the rotation instead of risking injury. Let him come on around the 60th against tired legs
Ooof, Christian Miles. Glad Apple gives us the chance to switch over to local radio. We should have gotten s shot off on that 3rd minute turnover.
Lucky that dude shot rather than lay it off to the open guy in the box. Lousy turnover by Yedlin. Arias is needed sooner than later.
