The ********ing balding guy? That guy?! ******** off how many chances has rsl had like that where we hit the GK Another take the yellow moment there. This one from caliskan. Such a naive team at times
That bald guy has legit production apparently. I'd be a terrible scout, I'm way more judgey than I have any right to be.
I think it is fair to say that we are indeed a #9-5 team. @goobx1 may be proven right with the #10 West prediction. Although we’d probably be 2nd in the East…,
So, F'C Dallas is the new Minnesota i see. Defend with everything just in case you force teams up and then counter them.
Cabral didnt have the best night. Nor did Quinton, Solans, Olatunji, Gozo, Spierings, or frankly most of the team.
Pablo’s post game started as pretty harsh on the players for why the performance was not good. He pulled back on the criticism a bit and admitted winning and losing is a collective thing, but he made sure to name Luna and Guilavogi as not “executing the structure”. I find this curious as I didn’t think the way Luna and Guilavogi were playing and where they were/nt was the problem. I think he is far too myopic and doesn’t realize everything he complimented against Portland is what Dallas leveraged against the team here. I’m also so over his angst with transition play on the defensive side of the ball. This system simply doesn’t work without that as the tradeoff. It would be like loving the 442 diamond that Kreis played but being lost why diagonal balls kept creating 1v1s in defense. That’s a feature, not a bug
I’ll make a wager now, based on how Pablo is reacting in the last 5 postgames (even the win) that we see a tactical shift after the World Cup break. It’s not entirely wrong to do so - especially based on the run of form the team is on now - but it makes so much of what Pablo says hollow My guess is you’ll see solans removed from the lineup in favor of a defensive player. Likely a CB. The shift will be to move Yedlin to “RWB”, Gozo to one of the dual 10s, and Guilavogi at the 9. If Luna and/or Gozo leave I especially think a shift like this happens
So 3-1 or 2-1 is no real difference - pushing for the tying goal in 90+ is what I want, even if it opened us up. The attack suffered from the absence of the good passing from the back we've come to expect, and it impacted the whole game. Otherwise, FCD capitalized well on their chances, and I don't feel too badly about that result in that venue, with Glad and Engel (and to a lesser extent, Arias not in on the right yet) out.
Your last sentence is why I was saying they should play for the draw and focus on getting six points at home this week.
RSL looked rather impatient most of the game. RSL needed more quality, consistent possession which seems counter intuitive considering they had over 67% of the ball. Dallas has watched the tape and RSL does not do well when they get pressured on the ball. They forced RSL to try and get the quick game changing, field changing pass, when they needed to keep possession, keep their shape and try to force Dallas into a mistake. That may have been more helpful in creating more opportunities like they did for the goal. I thought this game was crying out for a Luna or Guilavogui to take over and run the team but it didn't really happen. Not necessarily on an individual basis, which Luna seemingly did on the goal, but It's a team game they needed a leader with a calm head to direct some traffic and be comfortable with a more defensive and conservative approach to the game. I think I would have been more comfortable watching them try and be a little more patient and clinical then watching them be so easily defended. Take some body shots, set some jabs, instead of going for the easily defended haymaker time after time. Cabral is a great Captain but this team needs a leader, especially in the midfield, but that all seemed a little lacking in this game. It's Luna's team if he want's it because Guilavogui doesn't look to be the guy, at least at the moment, that wants to be the one directing traffic. Gozo looked rather MLS on the night. He disappeared or was just defended out of the game. Olatunji looks lost or RSL just doesn't know what to do with him. He probably gets a start soon considering that Solans is fading a bit. Which is to be expected once teams start to notice his effectiveness. I love Philip Quinton but I still think that RSL could use two starting level CB's back there. We will see what Arias brings and if someone next to Glad can bring the level up back there. 3 loses in 4 games makes RSL look like water finding it's own level.
I just think we found out that Quinton isn't the guy in the middle. I think he fine on the right, I actually prefer him to Yedlin. I'm really surprised to see Olatunji isn't clicking with this formation. RSL needs to get right on Wednesday and then figure out how they need to rotate on Saturday.
Yedlin needs to be in a back 4. He gets exposed on defense in the box with just 3 back there due to his size. I like him on the team but Musa should have scored that header over him. He didn't even need to jump.
Regarding Quenton, I posted last year that he’s a liability at CB and RB, but his mistakes are less lethal at RB. I still feel this way. I acknowledge that he’s improved compared to last season, but I would rather not see him on the pitch. Regarding Solans, I agree that teams are defending him better now compared to earlier matches. But he’s had several scoring opportunities in recent matches.where he simply didn’t finish well. We saw that earlier too, but now he’s getting fewer opportunities so the misses stand out more.
