In eager anticipation of supporting and following the new Salt Lake expansion team in 2005, I’ve decided to develop a computer program that will keep track of MLS game results. I want to be able to look at things like individual game results for a year, or a team, and look at head-to-head records between 2 teams. What I would like is all the game results (dates, teams, scores, who was the home team, and whether the match was decided in regulation, overtime, shootout, or penalties) for every single season. The 2004 data is of course rather easy to obtain, but earlier years are a problem. I’ve done some searching on the internet hoping to find a website with this sort of information without success. For earlier years, I can pretty much just get the final standings and playoff game results. Therefore, I am turning to the bigsoccer community hoping some kind soul out there can guide me to a suitable website, or possibly even provide me with the needed data. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
http://www.mlsnet.com/MLS/schedule/index.jsp#current For this year's games. http://www.mlsnet.com/MLS/history/ Poke around here for previous years.
Thanks for the responses. I'd already looked at these links (as well as a few others) and they don't really have all the data I would like. I'll keep on hunting and hoping either I or someone else finds what I am looking for. Might just have to have my program being in 2004.
http://www.rsssf.com/tablesu/usa03.html Change the number in the URL and you can get all of the results back to 1999. http://webpages.charter.net/csallen/mls-rs98.htm Again change the number to get 1996-1998.
Send me an e-mail and I'll give you an excel file with ID day_of_week month day year home_team home_goals away_team away_goals winner attendance overtime playoffs Results are updated as of June and attendance only goes to 2001, but it's all formatted already for you and with a little work, you can get it all up to date and do whatever you want with it, database, program, etc... Anything. I used to use the data to do power rankings and pre-game match reports, and it was also a season simulator. Haven't had time for years to do anything with it. Like I said, just send me an e-mail @ dgath at msn dot com
