I never thought of that... It would be funny but would piss off a lot of fans. Or me anyway.

I do know this has been under consideration for some time and all those names are very legit.

Why MUST a reporter RSVP for the press conference?? Is Fox so worried that their gushing softball coverage of the war has angered someone who may react violently.

I don't have enormous experience with media handling, but I do have some, and I can't imagine a PR reason why you'd keep people away if they hadn't RSVP'd.

I feel the same way, but in my case it is Cablevision that refuses to offer the Shootout.

You wouldn't most likely, but you want to know who's coming to be prepared. Or there may be security reasons that News Corp needs to know visitors ahead of time.

In order to receive HDnet, you MUST have all of the following:

    1) HDTV
    2) DirectTV service
    3) High-Definition set-top receiver

it's amazing that they are going to be on HDNet. all broadcasts on this channel are broadcast in HDTV and recorded that way, not recorded analog and upconverted. My parents have it and the clarity is unbelievable. This would be very cool if MLS was in HDTV.

What Monster said. In short, PR guys like to know who's coming. It also lets them know if there are gaps in their coverage (like who they need to call and remind). If you throw these kinds of things, you want to make sure somebody from AP or a paper that's attatched to a news service is there so the story gets out.

Between the weekly games on ESPN/ESPN2, now the additional games on FSW, plus all the regional sportsnets, if you have DirecTV, do you even need to get the shootout package? I can't imagine you'd miss many games if you've got the rest of these channels.

regional sports channels (fox and all that) will only show games that are delay.

this will mean that you will get the game either later that night or the next day. If you live in NY, and wish to watch a game on Fox Sports West, it will be blacked out. If it's repeated the next day, sure it'll be on Fox Sports West.

To get the FSR games live, you need shootout.

    More on HDnet:

It's also available to Charter cable subscribers with digital cable service (it's available in lower michigan, check other places for availability).
