Turner is motm for Revs in today's game. How Turner is behind Sean Johnson has to be one of the great mysteries of the Berhalter era.
About to watch Hyndman battling Nagbe in the center of the park while MRob tries to keep Zardes from scoring. Right now on ESPN2
I totally agree that we have no idea if Philly is capable right now of teaching this to Aaronson. None whatsoever. However, I'm not so sure that Sargent is learning it at Werder Bremen, either. I'm not advocating Aaronson stay or go based on this, but it's a reasonable counter point.
LOL. Aaronson is doing what only a handful of teenagers in the decent leagues are doing. Pump the brakes, already. Paul McDonough: Atlanta's roster moves have looked subpar, since he left.
Miles Robinson is the only bright side for Atlanta. It is somewhat criminal he is not overseas already. Jahn starting in MLS in 2020 is just sad.
Haven't been watching Columbus-Atlanta closely, but George Bello has flubbed two good opportunities in about 3 minutes. The first was a cross that he controlled well (but probably should have hit first time with his right) and subsequently sliced his shot well wide with his left. The second was a good cross that he completely misjudged, leading to a nothingburger of a header across the endline.
Jesus H Christ, who is Atlanta's captain? Escobar has been in multiple hot-headed situations (and should have gotten his second yellow just now for shoving a player standing next to the ref) but, yet, no one from his team has stepped up to get him to back off. Rudderless, it seems.
So lucky not to be red-carded. Seriously... half the refs out there would have sent him off. And why did the coach wait to pull him? Atlanta is a friggin train wreck. A bit better in the 2nd half but they have zero class right now inside the 18. Every final ball is off to a flat out joke. And why?.... Oh tell me why?... do they never use a cut-back pass when centering? Man City scores tons of goals on this movement and it is totally under used in the MLS.
Yeah, but I'd say it looks like DeBoer has completely lost the team, too. For all their talent, they're terrible.
Looks like DeBoer just isn’t a good fit. Really goes to show how good Tata was. Still can’t believe people didn’t want to hire him as our coach.
Also, and I've said it many times before, but Taylor Twellman is such an idiot. Maybe in the future I will focus on what he says so I can write it down and share. And it's not just the spurious bs he says, it's his "tactical assessments"--and I'm no master tactician, as many of you are aware, but the guy played many years as a professional and has no insight, pretty much ever. About the 80th minute there was a question from (is it Adrian Healy?) to Twellman (after Twellman, in the first half, spoke glowingly of the duo of Nagbe and Artur) asking if Nagbe-Artur is the best midfield duo in the league right now, understanding that some teams play with 3 in the mid. Twellman responds that the trio from LAFC is the best. Healy reiterates the question ("I'm not sure you understood my question") and Twellman says "I'll take any two of the three from LAFC". Then Healy just gives up, and Twellman follows with "This feels like Jeopardy. I'll take therapist for 100", to which Healy basically responds "yeah, ok, just leave it you ignorant fool".
Emo is not a CM. Atl should not be playing him there. He is a nice amid piece. But ATL already had Barco and Pity. Stupid to sign Emo to that huge contract and then move Gressel. Gressel, Gonzalez-Pirez, and Josef were the core of the team. I don't think DeBoer is the issue, unless he is also in charge of player acquisition.
What exactly is he not doing? He is making his passes, finding space to combine and making the right runs. If Bello was competent Hyndman would have had a great chance on a cutback. ATL is a dumpster fire, Pity does not appear to want to be on the field, and the team has no approach or plan. They just don't seem to care.
Go back and read thru the thread for our coaching search there were plenty of people that didn’t want Tata and there was that whole leak about the USSF wanting a coach who spoke English.
Not sure why so many people are picking on Hyndman... he hasn't been fantastic but he certainly has not been a guy you pick out as being poor. And yes... he was Sooooooo wide open on that play and it was, yet again, another pass along the endline into the teeth of the D with multiple bodies it would have to get thru in order to be even a chance for a score and there are two players lined up open along the cutback. It happens in every MLS game I watch... they always center into the face of the D.
Like I am going to go back and find that... There may have been a few around here and it is pretty obvious the USSF didn't want him... but I distinctly recall a serious backlash here on the GB hire that has reverberated since... and during those conversations there has been a lot of ire over not hiring Tata.
GB backlash was real but many wanted Marsch not Tata. Which would have been fine. However, the backlash was mostly cause GB and Jay. O and we only interviewed 2 freaking people after taking a damn year. Triggered
18 min in Canouse already has 2 tackles and 15/16 passing. Call me old fashioned but I like my DM to win the ball!
