At least its grass! And the stadium had nothing to do with Atlanta's terrible performance. But that, and your original shot at the best team in the east are not relevant to this thread, take them grapes back to the supermarket.
Jesus Christ, this losing streak for SJ has been brutal. Yueil scored, so we've got that goin for us...
Portland Timbers can't get a break. That was a horrible, unjust ending last night. I was seriously cussing out the ref. On the other hand, Ebobisse played really well, and I hope he will be called up in November. It was a good game until the end.
I flip the channel every time i see it at Yankee stadium, i just cant. Even if Ronaldo and Messi was the NYCFC front line, i dont think id watch it.
I'm not usually the one to be infuriated by referees' decisions, but that 90-whatever minute penalty call was complete horse shit. Great game from Ebobisse, overall. The guy played left mid for a lot of the game, and showed his defensive effort. He's a very, very good player. Not sure where he fits with the national team, but he's improved greatly this season, and the constantly-tinkering Giovanni Savarese clearly has faith in him. Further, Ebo has a lot of competition for a spot and that's good for his development (which differs greatly from the common [or, perhaps, formerly common?] refrain that MLS players don't have competion for their spot).
Ebobisse already has a full USMNT cap. He's definitely in the mix. I do think that over the next couple of windows he's going to be a leading player on the U23s as they try to qualify for the Olympics. So he may not be with the full USMNT for that reason. The Euros (like say Sargent, Weah, etc.) are probably not with that group for Olympic qualifying. There aren't many domestic U23-eligible forwards doing much of anything. Ebobisse, Ferreira, Toye, Vasquez. Ebobisse, mind you, is the 4th leading USMNT-eligible scorer in MLS. The three that have scored more are Wondo, Zardes, and Sapong. Fifth is Altidore. So if folks want to try somebody new from the domestic scene, Ebobisse is ti.
Not related to Ebobisse in particular, but not using goals per 90 distorts the picture. The stats that brought in Altidore thread are more important.
Damn, remember Agudelo and his potential. Should be smack in the middle of his prime and has 3 goals/ 2 assists 27 games for a crap NE.
Fun WS fact of the week: NewEngland beats NYCFC 2-0 and motm was NE's goalkeeper, Turner, while flop of the match was Sean Johnson, our #2 after Zack Steffen. What I've seen of Turner I"ve liked but after Friedel hand picked him for NE, he later dropped him iirc. Any GK's out there have an opinion on Turner for national team?
San Jose dropped 5 straight and tommy gets a red. Morris seals the dagger in injury time. First playoff game of the year is next week; SJ vs Portland in Portland; except SJ need all three points. Portland can park the bus.
“I think that Miles Robinson is the best one-on-one defender I've ever played with in my entire career,” said Parkhurst. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...obinson-best-one-one-defender-ive-ever-played

SJE vs Portland is the first de facto playoff game of the year, and San Jose has to play for the win because a tie isnt gonna do it. hopefully that makes for some exciting ball. As for Jackson Yueill, hes become a hell of a player for us, no doubt. God I would love to get Tommy Thompson in the national team somehow. Hes been an incredibly underrated player for us as well who has broken in, perhaps even at lima's expense......hes forced him out left. I think my biggest "what if" we've been wondering here in San Jose is how would Fatai Alashe have looked under Almdeyda. I think he could have flourished next to Yueill in the middle of the park in a way that Judson and Godoy have been unable to. Stahre really boned us getting rid of him i think, we could have used him. I am just bewildered at Miles Robinson not being there. These are getting to Klinsmann levels of inexcusable callups. The "visibly better players being left home" quotient is increasing. Lovitz makes me want to go back in time 10 years in big soccer and smack everyone in the back of the head who complained about Bornstein, including myself, lol.

Busio had a strong two-game week at a-mid. Poised for a proper breakout next year. Aaron Long continues the revival. Kellyn Acosta's game may be in terminal decline. Ebobisse also had a strong two-game week. He drew a pk in his other match. Good news: Trapp got the start and a strong performance. And just in time! That's all 3G needed after Trapp's extended bench time. Toye has cooled off considerably. Might have hit the wall. Delgado had a strong performance at a-mid. Lil Frankie Amaya is a bright spot in the desolate Cincy landscape.
