The Irwin trade still doesn't make a lick of sense to me from the Rapids point of view. They had a relatively low-cost, MLS-quality goalkeeper in his prime that they needlessly traded away. To do what? Maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe get a highly paid veteran? On a rebuilding team with holes everywhere else on the field? If I was a Rapids fan I'd be going insane right now. I don't see a plan.
Feel are pain, this report covers just about everything, Chivas 2.0 here we come http://worldsoccertalk.com/2016/01/...me-the-laughing-stock-of-major-league-soccer/
hey look at the bright side. youll be in line for first round pick of the draft next year. ............wait no thatll be Atlanta and Minnesota or LA2. You'll be picking third. Yeah, I got nothing
Colorado is exhibit A that in only takes two years for an incompetent front office to destroy a good team. We give Pareja a ton of credit for his work in 2013 with a young team, but he was only able to get them to 5th place in the West.
I bet they'd be higher than that by now had he stayed. I was so depressed knowing he was their coach and we had the death throes of Hyndman coursing through the team. I knew Oscar would turn around Dallas but am very surprised that Mastro has been so poor and yet hangs on.
Well, Matt Miazga is headed to Chelsea. http://www.espnfc.com/new-york-red-...zga-set-to-join-chelsea-of-the-premier-league Chelsea has long been rumored to be on the trail of Miazga, with word emerging in November that the Blues had made an offer for the center-back. Leicester City and Stoke City had also been reportedly interested in Miazga. Miazga joined the Red Bulls academy in 2009 and rose through the ranks. He signed a homegrown player contract as an 18-year-old in 2013. He has since made 38 league and playoff appearances, making a significant breakthrough in 2015, when he became a mainstay in manager Jesse Marsch's squad.
That IS the plan! MLS should be embarrassed that somehow the Rapids won an MLS championship in this century.
Zimmerman is now on trial with Gothenburg FK Wed-Fri. Moving up the food chain? Too bad about Zim's difficult injury history because he is truly an all around talent. He should definitely find a gig in Europe.
It should be noted that Clavijo has continuously stated in the last couple of days that they're still hopeful Zimmerman will re-sign. That was irregardless of the Figueroa signing. If I was NYRB and probably selling Miazga, I'd be on the phone to FCD right away about Walker. He's shown that he's capable of being a starter in this league. He's just stuck behind Hedges and Loyd in Dallas. [I don't think anybody expected Loyd at CB to be a long-term solution, but he's excelled there.]
In the past I'd have said they sign a 33 year old injury prone player from the Spanish 2nd division. I'm not sure what they'll do under this new regime. Not many MLS clubs are going to be willing to part with a starting-quality MLS centerback. Clavijo has stated that he doesn't want to trade Walker's rights within the league. NYRB would have to wow them with their offer............................
harsh. harsh and true unfortunately. Dang I hope both are able to put something together this season though. So Besler-Birnbaum for the strudel friendlies it is.
You don't play as well as he did last year - at his age - without being smart(at least on the field).
